Default Where to ride around KC MO?

My wife and I just got 2 new ATVs and are looking for places around KC to ride. We know about Deepwater and Finger Lakes, but are looking for something closer. My boss found a mx track near Grain Valley off AA Highway. Does anyone know if this track is open to the public to ride or is it only for sanctioned races/practice? TIA for any replies.

Welcome to the forums. There are other legal riding areas around here but they aren't any closer than Deepwater. We go to Perry Lake over in Kansas. I have been to Milford Lake once in Kansas but didn't get to ride much because a buddy broke some ribs and had to be airlifted out. There is Grindstone MX Park up in Hamilton. It has a motocross track and some trails. And the best is down in Springfield called Chadwick but it is quite a drive for us up here. We are going to Perry Lake next Sunday. Your more than welcome to follow or meet us there if ya want. It takes us about 1 hr. 20 min. What quads did you get? Ltr. Jeff

Hey blasterboy thanks for the info. Is Perry lake northwest of Lawrence? I got a 2005 DS650 x and the wife got a Outlander 400xt. We went down to Deepwater yesterday afternoon and rode for 2-3 hours. We took it easy because my wife is new to riding and we were trying to break our machines in. I did crash out pretty hard though. We were in the north side down in the open space by the lake. I was going hard into one of the berms and my boot got hung up and I couldn't get to the back brake. I went over the berm into a deep washout and hit the eject button. I landed on the far side of the washout on the hard rocky shale they call dirt. When I hit I bounced back into the air. Luckily I didn't break any bones just cuts, bruises, and my wrist is jacked up. The ds is fine it did not tip over and nothing looks bent. I did notice a slight differnce in the toe of the front tires (1/4" maybe) but it could have been that way before. Thanks for the invite but we already have plans, we have an annual camp out at a buddy's cabin up in Iowa. Let me know the next time your crew is going somewhere and maybe we could meet up then. We are free most weekends.
