Default Minnesota Spider Lake Trip

Hello...once again... me, my brother, and Klier.. are going to be planning a Spider Lake ATV/Dirtbike trip.

SO far the date looks like June 24, 25, 26. It may or may not change.

SPiderlake has tons of ATV trails, many dirtbike trails, and several 4x4 Vehicle trails.. Not to mention several awesome Gravelpits.. for ATV and Dirtbikes only tho.

Heres a link with more info.. h
ttp://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/spider_lake/index.html

DONT BE mislead... there are way more miles then like the 14 listed..
Me and my brother went a few weeks ago, we put over 150 miles on.. and about 40 or more of those were just from single trails..
Its well worth the drive...

Anyway if you are interested...Email me at gc_extreme@hotmail.com

If all goes well.. Klier and his buds will leave the cities, arrive at my place in Alexandria MN about 3 pm.. Then we will go from Alex to SPiderlake.. Taking Hwy 29 to 210, then 210 to 10, then to 64, then into the Foot Hills State Forest Area and then tto Cnty Rd 2 i think.. where we will find a camping area. Hopefully we will be there before 6 or 7 or at least dark to have our camp set up and a campfire.. YES MARSHMELLOWS.. Cant forget those!

So if you are up to this atv/dirtbike camping trip. Let's GO.. bring your Truck/Trailer/ATV/Dirtbike/IceChest/DRINKS/Food/Clothes/Tent.. well the list goes on.. But if your real wealthy...bring your RV and you may even have indoor plumbing and electricity..as for me, i will settle for a tent and the outdoor plumbing (tree). LOL

Lets RIDE
Peace Out

Have they taken down the fences around the gravel pits? when my son and I were there last year, all the gravel pits were fenced off, and the Truck trails area was closed, and the miles of trails were cut in half, from almost 60 to about 38. We've been going up there for years, and the most trail miles ever available were around 60, there are some trails north of Hwy 2, across from the old gravel pit by the highway, which was still open last time we were there, but to be honest, to put 150 miles on, you would be going over the same trails a lot, or you are going on some of the closed trails and not aware of it. Are there gates and signs up showing closed areas? We were planning a trip up there, maybe around the same time as you, maybe we can hook up and ride for the day.

Well dude.. yes there were a few trails.. only a few that were closed with gates.. and we only saw 1 big gravel pit that was fenced off.. and in fact they even had a dozer and digger out there and many guys looking at the land.. maybe they are gona sculp it for some fun riding?

Anyway.. i know i put on about 150 miles onmy quad.. according to my trail tech.. and yes some of them were riding in two big gravel pits and riding the main trail back to our campsite many times.. but to tell u the truth.. we went down at least 14 different traills and i think we only hit 2-3 of the trails twice..
But there were even more trails that we started going down.. then found big mud pits.. and we knew we prob coulndt make it and there were no way around.. so we just back tracked.
there was even two other trails that we went down.. and they had too big of hills and we couldnt make it up.. we justt bottomed out.. the ruts were too deep.. we had no fun walking our quads down them either.. lol

And no.. we didnt go down any closed trails.. all the trails we went down were clearly marked and open..
except for one trail.. it wasnt marked or closed off.. we went down it.. for about a mile and then it turned into a Dead END.. had to turn our quads around and head back.. lol so thats why it wasnt marked.. lol.. but it should have been closed off if it was a dead end.. lol
As far as truck trails.. we saw many that were marked for them.. at least 6 i think.. i cant remember.. we just looked for the quad ones

But we had fun anyway...
And if you and your son or anyone else wants to join us.. anyway.. your more then welcome..
I dont know what driection ur coming from.. but if your heading the same driection as us.. we can meet up somewhere and form a big convoy of trucks haulin fourwheelers.. lol
Anyway.. email me or let me know on here.. i check this forum often.. thanks..

Peace

I'll call Glenn probably on Sunday or Monday to try to finalize some plans. As of now, I am counting on being there...

Yes..we are still planning on going..
The more riders that show up..are more then welcome.

Depending on what direction your coming from..you can either meet up with us in Alexandria, or the closest town near the Spiderlake area is Leader..theres a small gas station about 15 miles before the area. You cant miss it if your'e heading North on 64.
Otherwise...just give me a call Friday afternoon after 2pm. 218-731-6962 and we can arrange to meet up.
Wont be too hard to spot..look for the Red Ford Ranger with a yellow Honda and a black Yamaha Raptor.

Anyway, as far as camping goes...we will have to scope out the area to see what campsites are available.

I am bringing some firewood...if anyone else has any..feel free to bring some also...I don't know how much we will go through. OH and a lighter an extra lighter or matches is always helpful..lol longstory there.

I a bringing some hotdogs and chips and some pop... i have limited space in my small truck but i will bring some..

Does anyone have one of those pots or cooking kettles you hang over the fire? Or a coleman cooking stove so we can cook some chili?

I have a 18 by 12 canopy tarp to set up so we can sit under...but i dont have any chairs..no lawn chairs or anything..so maybe some one else does?

Anyone got a Lantern? or mosquito magnet? lol just ideas!

Also the camp dosent have trash cans..so you might wanna bring some trash bags to put your trash in...we are all atv riders and we should respect the land..lets not leave our garbage there..

Any toolkits, winches, etc could be helpful too..
other than that i think we can manage..

Talk to you later guys.
