I live in Western Mass and ride the State forests at least once a week on my 2000 Kodiak. I'm looking for someone in a neighboring state that rides 4X4's and could give me and a couple of others tours on their trails and I would do the same. I'm limiting my offer to only folks with 4 wheel drives since I prefer to stick to the technical terrain.

Join the NEATVA. I have been a member for the last two years. Mostly for racing in their MX series, but I know a lot of the members ride 4x4.

They have club rides all the time and are looking for people to help maintain the trails. I have been on one clean up and it was 1/2 the day cleaning (riding the trail and moving sticks and trees) and then the other half of the day riding.

They are a good bunch of guys. Recently the club split into 2 sections one for the trails and one for the MX racing.

Here is there address: http://neatva.tripod.com/

Most of the trails in the state forest are too rocky for my quads so I tend to stay off them.

im from mass. i didnt even register my quad for mass. why? from my house the closest legal trail is only 5 miles of trails(newburyport, georgetown),not worth loading the quad and driving close to an hour,im on the east side of mass, western mass is even further away from me. i registered in n.h. i live like 20-25 mins from windham n.h. and ive been there a dozen or so times..im still finding new trails off the main 18 mile trail and thats only 1 legal place theres more within an hour from my house..my opinion its not worth registering in mass..once in a while we`ll go for a friday nite blast on some local power lines but thats illegal so it doesnt matter if your registered..i would say sorry i had my helmet on and didnt hear you officer, thats if they do catch up,usually no one bothers us as we dont stay in one place long but just ride the trails and not tear up the area..i have spoken with local p/o`s and they say they dont care and wont do anything unless someone calls but have no intention of chasing anyone, unless your on a public road.ive had the local e.p.a.cop stop and let us cross the road one time when we were riding the power lines,he didnt seem to care ,neither of us were registered..anyone interested in riding let me know,i go every 1st and 2nd sunday and work the 3rd and theres anywhere from 2-7 of us riding.but you need to register n.h. $47.00 for a year let me know if ya wanna go,i guess they do check for registrations,i havent had it happen yet but who knows when it will happen

yz250wr,
I don't mean to sound stupid, but are these trails in Mass or NH? If they're in New Hampshire, what is the registration requirements for us Mass. guys? Can we do 30 to 40 mile rides? If so, we may have something going because I can show you 30 to 40 mile loops in 5 different areas up my way. Thanks.

frano, I'm not too far from you. In NY there is not much unless you know someone or you have your own property. I don't know a lot of people that ride and I'm having a hard time getting out. I was looking at how to get registered in MA, any tips? I live around Albany, so it wouldn't be to bad get out your way. Sent me an email at arrowhead300@hotmail.com, maybe we can ride!

hello guys..

well.. the trials i was refering to are in both mass and new hamp. the trails off of 110 are poublic for the most part but they lead to a private road construction company and power lines. the road construction company does not mind riders as long as we stay away from the equipment. there is a parkinglot that everyone parks at and from there its a short ride through the woods to the huge sets of pits, from there you can go all over the trail into NH and along northern mass. nobody checks for reg where I ride except fro windham. In londonderry NH, there are more huge pits with pro track style jumps and a couple small tracks with some wicked jumps. the total trail mileage is unclear but it has to be 20+ miles in mass and 30+miles in nh. I know ride ride about 6-8 hrs and may hit the same trail twice (not the whole trail but just intersections between trails) londonderry is off of exit 5 route 93 and the other is off of 110 in mass.

Windham Depot NO MORE!

Five of us all got $60 fine for riding at the Rockingham trail (yes, we are registered in NH). We were on a trail that was off of the 4-mile trail and three NH Fish and Game stopped us (they had one bike and two 4x4).

They said: "if you get off of the main trail, you are trespassing on private property. The only legal place to ride at the Rockingham Tail is on the rail bed, and NO were else. It was people like YOU that gives OHRV a bad name".

They also closed down the only sand pit. I guess a child was killed there a few weeks ago. So now there busting *****.

First off... people like WHO give OHRV a bad name?

second.. I believe you can fight it because the land is not posted as no trespassing and the trails have been in public use for many years.

The situation that happened with the hampstead boy happend up in the hampstead/sandown area off of 121 which is not near windham depot.

worse case, we (anyone who wants to join me) can ride in some private pits that are open to atvs and bikes as well as the powerlines and beds along the way.

Here is the original news report if you are interested.
http://eagletribune.com/news/stories...002/NH_001.htm

here is another story about the accident
http://eagletribune.com/news/stories...010/FP_001.htm

never the less.. I'm going to look into the situation about the trails and i'll post my findings.

worse case, we(anyone who wants to join me) can ride in some private pits that are open to atv's and bikes as well as power lines and beds along the way..
