I am about 40 minutes from Belair. 20 from HavreDeGrace. They are both in Harford County. I like Havre De Grace it's a neat town. Some good restaurants. The Susquehanna river divides Harford Co./ from Cecil Co. I like antiquing too. We mostly go to Pa for that though. Have also done it in VT & NH. Got some cool old wooden skis and snoeshoes for our bar/basement. Though I must say the majority of our stuff we have found on ebay. LOL. We are pretty lucky in the fact that we have the Susquehanna River, the North East River, The Elk River, The Bohemia River, The Sassafras River, the C&D canal, & the Cheseapeake Bay all w/i our county. I'm about 45 min to Philly so I am guessing you must be atleast 2hrs from Philly? We do have beaches but none that I know of allow ATVing. Do they allow it in your county? In the summer we like to get out on our jet skis and most of our friends have boats. Have you ever heard of the flats in North East. Also I guess down your way you must have heard of the Red eye dock? What kind of truck did you get? A 250 super duty Ford?

Eaglefan, I just bought an 05' Grizz and my friend bought a 06' BF750. We both went with the warn 2500lb winches that came with the winch or plow deal. They hook-up really easy, took us about 3hrs for each(total time from start to finish)! What kind of wheeler do you have?

TO everyone else anybody doing any wheeling this weekend? I am off Sat & Sun. and wanna put some miles on my baby!! PM me or just respond on the subject and maybe we can hook-up. Thanks everyone Mike.

this is my first post ever and i am feeling like a real minority here, simply because i ride on two wheels instead of four. i live in the north east area and can ride directly to the "tower hill" location from my property without even riding the roads. it is a great piece of property to ride on and no one will really bother you. there are all kinds of terrain... the property was recently purchased by homebuidler d.r. horton, however they are unsure about developing the property. it will probably be several years before anything happens.

i have some questions about the marley pits... i just noticed these trails last week for the first time. i drove down ephrata lane and noticed a guard shack with signs saying basically that the place was a chemical dump. is it a good place to ride? do you glow after riding there? whats the deal? is there anywhere you can park and then go ride? i would also like to check out the trails off of the csx tracks. oh well... i guess thats enough questions for a first post.

Welcome ccLX330cc,
There are 2 pitts. The one you are refering to is a superfund site and you want to stay away from that one. The other one as far as I know of is fine. I am not glowing yet.

OMG EBAY!!!! is there anything better, we also get alot of our antiques off there lol. our thing is old advertising kitchen tins and railroad lanterns. we go to salam MA every year and do antique shopping there. As for philly takes us 2.45 hours to get there. yea there are great resturants in grace, its so nice there. yes we have alot of beachs, but the only place to ride is on private beaches where the owners ride it to, but its rare. the truck i bought was a Ford 150 XLT EX cab, its a 97 tho, i just wanted a new farm truck and an ATV hauler . its so perfect tho, i searched 45 dealers and all over the internet, and coundlt really find anything, so i was going to settle on a dakota 2001, ex cab but not really anything in it, then at 10PM i found a moonlight blue and silver ford they just listed in VA. went next morning and bought it lol. it almost matches my bike, so i had to have it, my buddy just put a killer exhaust on it today .

Anyway as for the bike i choose i bought a polaris trailboss 330 2006, im not a track runner, never much interest, i love driving thru trees and running them over exploring woods, its great just getting lost and finding your way out. and anyway the trail boss was the perfect trail begginers bike and it got awsome reviews from pros to novice riders, so i had to have it lol.

Welcome to the board! I ride both 4 & 2 wheels. We need to go ride sometime! I rode Tower Hill last Saturday, place has really grown up since I rode there as a kid. Still a great place to ride. I can access anywhere with my Dual Sport (xr650l). Monday we rode out to the Quarries in Whiteford. Cool place to ride, lots of cliffs. It was a great day to take a ride (60 degrees).

I grew up riding/playing in Marley pits. Like Megan said, there are two pits, one is undergoing a chemical cleanup. Its a Super Fund Site. You can find some information about it on the net. There were lots of chemicals dumped in the "first" pit. Its fenced off & has security to patrol it. The chemicals were nothing (that I know of) harmfull. Although they can't be good either. Anyone riding in the pits, stay away from the lane leading to the shack that leads to the other side. They have tolerated everyone riding for the past several years, but by riding up there, then they are forced to do something & we'll loose another riding spot. They stopped dumping chemicals back in the 70's & started cleaning it up in the mid 80's. The second pit has never been cleaned, or closed. I don't think they dumped in the second pit. It sounds worse than what it is.

Megan, search for this on Google Earth. (otis bog rd, little egg harbor, nj). You will see a pit called frenchies pit. In new jersey the resolution on google earth is alot clearer. It's around 118 miles from north east if you get directions from google earth and it's around 100 the way i take. If you look around you can find alot more pit's. If you want to see more just let me know and i'll get the adress for you. In most spots it's not really legal but the authoritys dont care if you ride there as long as you dont cause trouble or get crazy and drunk and burn stuff down. On the other hand if you go into the state forest i have heard that theres a fire warden riding around out there on a quad. But i grew up there and have road that area all my life and have never had any problems with the law or any fire warden's. Well cant say that cause when i ride road they bother me . Like i said just stay off the road if you dont want to get chased. If you would like to make a trip up there maybe one weekend this summer let me know and i'll show you your way around. When the day is over maybe you and your husband would like to go to atlantic city a.c is a 20 min drive from there.

o yea. What i have learned from google earth is that most of the trails that i used to ride up there are old unpaved roads they used back 100's of years ago to get around. It's pretty crazy if you really zoom in and follow them ive found trails i never knew about. If this program was around when i used to live up there i could of followed trails all the way to almost phila.
