Riding around Akley MN
#1
I was on hwy 61 a couple of weeks ago and seen some trail signs just South of Akley. Has anybody ridden any of these trails? Where can you park? Is there any type of map out there? Any information you guys can share would be great. Thanks.

Spider lake, is south of there but off hwy 64. Could it have been a snowmobile trail?
Try looking in the MNDNR website,it has maps and info about all the state trails.

On a somewhat related note...have you seen this thread? Us southern MN riders could use another good email sent.

There is some awesome riding in the area. We park at a place called the Stompin' Grounds which is a bar with great food and drinks. They are also starting to offer capming. They are right on the trail so you can park and ride. They
have a big parking lot and they love us ATV ers because we usually eat and drink when we park there. Their address is 26993 State 64 Akeley, MN 56433. Do a mapquest for directions and look up their phone #. I'm not sure if they have trail maps in the bar but the staff is very helpful and they could probably tell you where to get one if they don't have them. I ride up there in the summer so I am not sure what is open in the winter, you may want to call first. Hope to see you on the trails this summer! Enjoy!
