Haspin Acres?
#1
I live near Lima, Ohio and have been wanting to go somewhere with my atv for awhile now. I don't really have any friends with atv's and was wondering if it's a bad idea to ride by myself I have an 05 honda foreman 500es with 26" swamper vampires and a 2500# warn winch. Also will I be able to get through most of the mud I want to get stuck but not constantly. How much does it cost to get in and I was thinking of spending the night in my truck and I heard there is a lot of vandalism so do I need to have my atv locked and chained down. Do they have an internet sit thanks for any help.

First off, I have never been to Haspin Acres, so everything I know about it is second hand. But, I understand the place is open to all types of OHVs including Jeeps and rail buggies. I have also heard that is fairly crowded and the trails are rutted out. But, as you know, trail conditions can change overnight...
Anyway, here is their web site: Haspin
Another place to consider is Big Rock in Maysville, KY. It is 2000 acres of all types of trails. They only allow ATVs and dirt bikes.

i hate to dog haspin acres out, but it's not worth the money. check out my other posts on "haspin acres" on this forum. Unless they've done some major upgrades and trail work, it's a giant dusty rut. But good luck, and you shouldn't find any problem hooking up wit hsoemone to ried with on the trails. I normally go with 4 or 5 guys and we collect a bunch more on the trails. Most people down there are pretty nice, it's just some of the locals you have to worry about. ever seen deliverance?

Like charlie said, it can get pretty rutted up because you have to share with all of the big boys. However, they do work constantly on keeping the trails as usable as possible for us ATVers. It is one of those deals where they are constantly chasing their tails trying to keep up and leaving as many trails open at a time as possible. If you want a perfect MX track, go pro. Many of the rumors that you hear are just that. Camp up front near the main entrance and you won't have a problem. Most of the thefts occur when guys try to camp back in the sticks and leave their gear unattended. For a $15 entrance fee and a once a year $1 liability waiver card, you can find whatever kind of terrain you want to ride on. I try to go as often as I can. I would hate for you to go by yourself, send me a PM if you get ready to go. Maybe we can hook up with Jayblazer and get a little atvconnection.com ride going. Haspin will be fine if you just use a little common sense about where you leave your stuff. The common areas are patrolled by their security pretty often. As far as being crowded, it can get pretty bad. Unless it is a major holiday like labor day or a big race weekend though, the crowd is insignificant. Especially is you can go during the week. My brother and I have been down there through the week and been the only guys there. There have been alot of weekends when there was just a few other riders around.

Lawdog said it best, most of the rumors floating around are just that. With limited riding area's, there is no reason to b*tch about it IMO.
While the tracks aren't up to par with sanctioned tracks, they are great for people just wanting to get a feel for the track. There is nothing there to extreme to get hurt on, they got rid of all the big doubles a couple years ago.
