Planning a trip for Saturday after Thanksgiving to go to Wayne. Can anyone help with the best places to park, what kind of conditions we will meet on the trails, etc.? We are planning on going to the area called Monday Creek (I think that was what it was called). What is the terrain like on the trails? Are the trails in decent shape? We are going to leave early Sat. AM and should get there around 9:00. Planning on riding until dark or later. Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated. BK

I will be in Chillicothe after December 9th. I haven't been to the trails yet, but would like to go. I have a couple guys that would be interested in a day ride. Email me and we could set something up for later. hostetler_1@yahoo.com

I have ridin in the Door Run Area which I believe is the Monday Creek Area. It is acessed off of Rte #33 near Logan. You can park at any of the parking areas along the road in. I suggest you get a map of the trails and stay on the "main Corridor" loop for your first trip around. Trails are through the woods up and down hills and through some mud holes. There are numerous side trails off of the main corridor that can also be ridin. Have fun and make sure you get your day use pass they will check you and your quad if they see you.

The Monday Creek area of Wayne National Forest is a fun riding area.

The first thing I would do is to go to their website and print off the map and some information about parking areas. There are several parking areas within the Monday Creek area. The map gives some basic directions to get to the parking areas.

Make sure you get your trail pass for the day. They costs $5 and can be purchased at some local places. I get ours at Williams Campground where we stay. Call the Park Rangers office and ask where you can get them as some of the places listed in the website no longer sell them.

Their is three main riding areas. The new Straitsville loop, the Dorr run loop, and Long Ridge. The main corridor connects the New straitsville loop and the Dorr run loop. I have never ridden the Long Ridge trails, so don't know anything about them. The New straitsville loop is an easy loop of about 3 miles. The main corridor varies in terrain from fast stone trails to some tougher hills and mud holes. I like the Dorr run loop the best, but if you don't have a map, it can be very confusing at first.

I am not sure what condition the trails will be in. It will vary depending on the amount of rain they have received and the amount of maintenance the park rangers have done. I have not been their since August, so the trails can change a lot since then. Post another reply if you have any specific questions. Remember a change of clothes, you will most likely get muddy.

Here is the website. http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/wayne/
Every riding area down there is a blast. I'd love to hook up with someone since my wife isn't riding now (pregnant) and I've got cabin fever. I drive a 1998 Ford F-150 Super cab 4x4 Burgundy with a step-side bed. I'd have the 400EX on a trailer with a blue metal-mesh, drop gate. Email me if you are looking for extra riding buddies.

We are going to be there around 9 on Saturday. I don't know if we would be too slow for you on the 400. I'll be riding a Trail Boss and my brother has a Trail Blazer plus a couple of others might go with a Bayou 300 and a Honda 300 4X4. Is there any place bst to park or are all areas about the same? Where is the best place to get the riding permit?

These are the three locations in Wayne to buy permits. I got mine by mail, so I don't know which is best. It doesn't matter to me, that I ride all that fast. Besides I just don't want to ride by myself in case something happens, mechanical or rider error. HA!

BK,

I just like to get out and have a good time. I don't care how fast or slow we move. I will be living in Chillicothe from the 9th on, so I'll be ready to ride some sat or sun as soon as we get back. Let me know how the conditions are and we can get together sometime.
