What is this I hear about washing down your bikes after use at the end of every day? Is this true?

Someone said that I should spray it down with WD40 and rinse them down with water. Is this true and recommended? if so, what parts of the bike do I spray down? They also told me to do the same with my truck...EVEN if I DON'T hit the ocean water.

I wash mine everytime because the salt in the air will eventuall eat away at your quads weather or not you get them in the ocean or not if you go there alot. Several of my quads have chrome front ends so I do spray them down with WD40 also so that they don't rust. I also do it before races because it keeps mud from sticking to them.

Speaking of Pismo, a group of us will be going this weekend for some 4-stroke sand drags that are supposed to be happening. We'll have 5 rigs in my group alone. PM me if you're up for it. I ride with some locals from there and these guys really know the dunes well... All family people with kids in the group this weekend. PM me if your interested.

Thanks for the invitation. We'll be up there the 1st thru the 5th of July. Hopefully it won't be too crowded and we'll have a good time.

Do you spray down the entire bike...motor, front end and rear end?

I'll be going up to Monterey and Salinas to visit my inlaws. Perhaps we can get something to eat while I'm up there.

PM your email addy. Here's mine: armando.montalvo@comcast.net

Yes, I do the entire quad except the seat and top of the plastics. The mud just slides right off with the preasure washer rather then trying to rub off the film that some mudd leaves behind. Try not to get to much WD into the ign box (under left rear fender). Could do more damage then good.

I'll pm you my email. Drop me a line. The first weekend in July I'll probably be in and around the city of Hollister for the annual biker run that the city is trying to cancel...

I just wash them down when I get home, and rust has never been a problem. I do however cover the quads with plastic at night to keep the dew off them, and that REALLY helps!

no matter what you do your still gonna get that salt water on them. i would not worry about covering them becouse your still gonna have to wash it so dont worry be happy. yes i am going this saturday but im not taking any bikes. i had a bad wreck on march 19 of this year broke my shoulder and had 3 minor stress fractures in my leg. im still scared of the bike so im gonna be on the sidelines. i will be at the drags saturday in my black and greyish lifted f150 4x4 im i will be the big fat white guy with a shaved head. im not hard to miss. look me up if you want.
