If anyone hasnt' been to this riding area I strongly recommend that you check it out. IT isn't for the inexperienced as some trails can be fairly challenging. There are a few different campgrounds with trails right from camp. It's the best riding I've discovered so far, on three trips we've covered maybe 1/3'd of it. There are a few year round streams, lots of deer, some nice dirt roads for cutting loose on, well marked trails. Access to the trails is best from the Davis Flat camping area however the road TO Davis Flat itself can be a bit challenging as it gets down to 1 lane in parts and if you're hauling a trailer with someone coming the other way, I'm not sure what you'd do?? Digger Pines is much closer and the access road is better but there is only one trail out of that campground and it's fairly challenging, not for a beginnger. It's about two miles up and pretty much pushes me to my limit. The weather is dry and the trails can be very dusty in some spots. Trails are marked Green, Blue and Black..green being the easiest. We found some blue trails that pushed our limits. I would ONLY take advanced skilled riders on blue trails. This riding area is about 25+ miles west of I-5 taking the Maxwell exit. Maxwell is about 70 miles north of Sacramento.

Thanks for the information I've heard of the area before, just couldn't figure out where it was.
O your question about coming face to face with another vehicle on the road/trail, hope your the one facing uphill the other guy (by law) needs to back up hill.
