I don't know of any areas off the top of my head, but go to google or yahoo and do a search for "atv riding in North Carolina". I did that, and came up with about 6 results.

I don't know how far you want to travel, but Black Mountain Recreational Park in Harlan County, KY is about 3 hrs. or so away from you (Kentucky/Virginia Border). Check it out at kyoutdoors.com

I also just found another ATV forum for North Carolina riders. It's www.atvnc.com They have alot of info on places to ride.

Actually I live in Johnson City and there are some really good places to ride near Ash.

Callalantee
Not easy but fun about 1 hour from ash

I 81 motorsports park
all levels of riding
about 1 and a half hours from you


stone moutain lee county
awesome here as well about 2 hours maybe a bit more from ash

Whats Buffalo Mtn. like. According to Map Quest, its only about 60 to 70 miles from Ashville. Thanks.

its ok but it is short. deep mud holes you are better off at callalante.. its about the same distance

I know it's been a while since this post but thought i'd reply. Have you tried Uwharrie National Forest? It's over by Troy, NC. Cost $5 a day or $35 for a season pass good camp sites and all. I think it's worth it depending how far it is from you. I take my jeep up there all the time. They have several trails from easy to extremely hard. Can't wait to get back from deployment so I can try my new quad up there.
