I just took my quad to be serviced and the dealer told me Lembo Lake (aka atvny.com) was shut down last month. I checked the archives of the local paper and saw the article, but there's nothing on any of the forums. What's the real deal from the ATV community? Anybody know?

 

What do you mean by shut down? Just for ATV's or for dirtbikes as well? I just went to their website and it doesn't say anything about being closed down. I'm headed up that way for Labor Day so I'll check into it. Thanks for the heads up.

 

I called the town supervisor yestersday and apparently the residents won a lawsuit against Lembo Lake in Ulster County Supreme Court. The court stated there's no off-road riding areas allowed in residential zones. Lembo Lake says they're open and the supervisor didn't seem too thrilled that he had to enforce the law, but I don't think we'd be the ones to get in trouble. It would be the owner who allowed us to ride there.

 

Hi. This is George Lembo. My grandfather is Mike Lembo, owner of Lembo Lake. I was browsing the internet and I found this forum, and I figured I should address the issues that people have come to understand. Lembo Lake is NOT shut down. We are not permitted to charge for commercial use... so therefore, we charge for picnicking, and picnickers can ride for free. Also, if you happen to come across anyone else that has heard that the park is closed, please tell them that we are not, we would like this information to be spread so there are less misunderstandings. Yes we know the town supervisor and all the other people involved in the town will say that we are closed, but I can tell you that we are not. This pretty much is it in a nutshell.

 

Thanks for the update. I'm only 45 mins away and was going to head over there this weekend to find out what was going on, but the rain changed my mind. I'll see you when the weather gets better and there's less mud (it's a girl thing).
