Marienville, PA trail update

JCV,
What day on that weekend are you going? I may be headed that way myself...I won't need lodging as I live about 15 miles from you. I thought the bike trail was a pain in the *** but then again it has been 5+ years since I rode on that section. Is it smoother now than before? It was a nightmare before, even with good shocks you rode the thing standing up cause it would knock your teeth out.

I wanna ride the 23rd. We usually head out around noon in the winter. Let it warm up some. Do you know Mark Swanson? He and I ride the trail all year. The bike trail is still rough, they smoothed out the first couple of miles, but you still have the famous rock garden hill. Let me know if you wanna go.

JCV400EX, you are SO lucky to actually live in the area. I think its so nice up there, we have a camp in Halton & I would love to retire to a place like that. I never had any problems w/ sound levels on my loud Polaris & the warden was right there & never said anything about it.

Yeah, I know. I take full advantage of it too. I live on that trail.
Yeah, the wardens in our area are usually pretty cool. It's only when some idiot tears up something on or off the trail, that they start getting grumpy. Overall though, I do have to say, with all of the traffic that the trail does see, there really hasn't been any major complaints from anyone. The forestry and the gas companies are happy with our respect to the trail. This is great.
I really see more trails in our future opening up in this area. As long as we continue to respect the laws and keep up the attendance in the meetings, atvers will have a nice long history in Pennsylvania. All of the state and local Reps. are on our side so far. The addition of Bush to the govt. really helps too.

How much snow do you guys have & how does your 400ex do in the snow? Is winter riding a 4wd only event up there or can 2wd's also make it. I have some friends w/ 2wd's which were wondering about it.
Thanks

We've got a pretty good amount right now. I do okay. I've got a smaller front sprocket, so i can pull a higher gear without spinning the tires too much or bogging down. I had a 300ex last year with Maxxis Surtraxx on it. THat thing took me where ever I wanted to go. I never had a problem on the trail. From just playing around in the yard and buzzing up and down the driveway, the 400 goes okay. It's almost too much power and too fast in the snow. Really gotta watch yourself. I couldn't imagine riding a Raptor in the snow. It's gotta be insane.
