Do you still neeed a registration an insurance to ride on the reading anthracite property gavin? Thank you for the phone number by the way.I hate to have to go to another state but NJ just blows an no 1 seems to really care if the word atv or 4 wheeler existed in this state, the apathy is that bad.

Sugarhead. I believe you do need insurance and registration. I am actually going there to pick up my permit today. I will ask them what all is needed if someone is from out of state. I know when I called they said I would need my registration, proof of insurance and driver's license. I just got insurance last week and it costs $130 for the year. It is the same coverage I have on auto. It covers me for comp and collision. I don't think it's too bad of a price to know you are protected. The registration is 45, 25 for the registration, 20 for the fees and that lasts 2 years. The initial investment is rough, but for all this land to ride on, I believe it is worth it. I will post later tomorrow sometime with what you need for out of state.

sugarhead. I just got my permit and you do need insurance and registration. the areas they own are all over schuylkill county. the bulk of it around new castle, cass, foster and blythe townships. They also have property outside of west mahonoy, ashland and treverton. I know these areas are all foreign to you, but it is alot of ground to cover. Hopefully you'll find this useful.

Regarding the reading anthracite land...

I live there and I have never purchased one of these passes in my life. Just an hour ago I was doing some coal hills on their property. There are thousands of trails to explore so you won't regret it, but I know people who have bought that permit every year they offered it and have NEVER EVER been stopped and asked for it. They simply don't check.

Next year, spend the $100 on paddle tires so you can tackle the really big hills there.

If/when you do come up to the area to ride, send me a PM. We could meet up and I could show you around a bit.

Also, I have never registered/insured any of my bikes. Ever.

NO ONE checks. Trust me.
