I live in south central mn about 40 min. south of mankato. Is there any place to ride around here other then Elm Creek. My buddies and i would love to start thinking of places to go next year. most of us ride sport quads and a couple 4x4 that think they are sport quads. We would like to find some pits that are open to atv's if there are any.

I'm sure you've been to Tri-County ATV Park just northeast of Faribault. It's in really bad shape right now though -- I haven't been there for a long time. Everything is washed out. They opened a new section in July which has some sandy hillclimbs and a flat area for drag racing.

That's why I mostly ride Arkansaw, Hurricane Hills, and other local private MX tracks now.

Tri county is rutted up? I havent been there for a couple of years but they used to have a lil dozer there dedicated to the pit.Maybe I better go up there,I can run that little D3 and tune the place up.

By all means! I think Ray just lets the dozer idle over by his place ... he almost never takes it into the park.

When it's not so rutted, it was a decent place to burn a few hours...

The thing I like about is its open year round, and it has a mostly sandy base so it is not just a bottomless mud hole after heavy rainy periods or the spring thaw.

Bauer's Pit perhaps? It's been closed for probably 4 years now. The old man passed away a little while back. It used to be quite the area for riding and people from all over used to come and ride there. Bauer's is east of Tri-County a ways.

Tri-County did expand a little in July and has a new pit connected to it. Maybe that's what you're thinking about?
