looing for places to ride like forest roads. can you ride on state land or DNR land.

 

I used to live in Everett, WA and I remember mountain biking at an ATV park about a hour or so east of Everett, but don't remember the name of it though. Try the parks and recs people, I am sure they could direct you to one nearby. It was an excellent place to ride a mountain bike and even better to ride an ATV, most of the trails were pretty mucky.

atv action tours based in kirkland, WA sells a small booklet & runs tours. i bought the book at the seattle motorcycle show... its worth having it lists almost all of the riding areas in the state.

the closest areas to auburn are: tahuya, capital forest, evans creek & thuston county ORV park (has an MX track too)... i think there's a couple others... but i'm not sure.... Shelton rings a bell. i know tahuya state forest is open year round, but capital forest is not. trail markings & maps (available at some trailheads & the visitors center) are very good at tahuya, riding is mostly easy to intermediate.
(i've never ridden at thurston county or evans creek but plan to soon)

as far as i know, to ride on forest roads in the state of washington, you must be street legal. however, if it's private forest land, you can ride on the logging roads w/o being street legal. its hard to define where one ends & the other begins sometimes... they don't always have markers... and 'danger rick' (er, i mean ranger Richard) is likely to catch you on the wrong side of the line.

there are some trails in nat'l forests that are open to ORV, but you must check with the ranger station in that area.

as for state land (DNR etc.), only some of it is open, most of which is well known and is mentioned in the links above. if its not mentioned in the links it may not be legal to ride
