How do you pre-fill out of square corners? I've heard of filling in gaps with mud, letting it dry, then taping it, but not pre-filling 
Actually, this out of square spot used to be the front corner of the garage, so I guess it didn't matter to much at that time
And yes, I'm way too **** for this type of work, but I'm a cheap hire

not sure exactly about what you are describing,,,but if something is out of square it is best to use cardboard butt strips (lowes) to furr the studs level/plumb before hanging the drywall
i use a 6' concrete screed to identify the low/high studs and staple the strips to fill the gaps in order to make a flat plane to attach the drywall
this will enable you to use as little mud as possible,,,which will speed the finishing process and make things look nice
