My Idaho trip is postponed for about a month. It took my brother 6 hours to travel a normal 2.5 hour trip from Lewiston to McCall. He thought he was going to be spending the night in the road just outside of Grangeville. Apparently the road was closed while he was travelling down it. I'm glad I didn't make it across Stevens Pass yesterday.</end quote></div>
My parents left Snohomish at 8:30 this morning and got to Leavenworth at 2:30!!
They still had to drive to Soap Lake.
I sure hope it's better on Wednesday!</end quote></div>
That makes sense, they were saying on the news the average speed across the pass was 3mph...

Chains were not helping on Stevens, under those conditions, sadly, time to close it down

It wasn't that. There was an accident involving a semi. The trucker didn't know how to install his chains and then was in an area where he couldn't pull over so he blocked the highway. They sat in the line of cars and trucks by Iron Goat Trail for over two hours!
Then when they got to the other side by the Lake Wenatchee turn off (Coles Corner) there were slides in the Tumwater Canyon, so they had to drive through Plain and then into Leavenworth.

You're right, I heard a report from WSP that two trucks jack knifed and blocked the entire road, WSP stated that even with chains on trucks couldn't get any traction and were getting into trouble.
A trucker traveling over passes that can't put chains on properly, I'm sure there are more than a few
