Just go back form Asheland WV. Had a great time. Stayed at the new KOA, cabins. Very nice people. We rode close to 80 miles Saturday. This place will be good in the summer, many water holes all over the mountains.

Ashland is in McDowell County where I live. I have a bluegrass band and we played a show at the KOA campground last fall. There is a Hatfield-McCoy trailhead there, but there are also other places to ride as well.

The trails I ride are not marked. There are hundreds of miles of these unmarked trails in McDowell County. A Garmin would probably keep you from getting lost. I'm lookin' to buy one myself. It's probably 30 miles or less from my house to Gilbert. I live between Gilbert and Ashland, so it's probably 50 miles from Gilbert to Ashland....just a guess but pretty close guess I'd say. Not just because I live here, but McDowell County is an ATV heaven with backroads, hollers, and trails everywhere. But they are unmarked. However, the vast majority will end up coming back onto the paved highway somewhere.

That's either his son or his nephew. Perhaps one of the other Godfreys besides David owns that place. Anyway, I'm glad y'all have a good time there. Maybe sometime y'all can go south on RT 52 about 20 miles and take on some of these McDowell County trails.
