LESLIE'S WINGS
Leslie Whiteman was a 28 year old nursing student who had been bitten by the "biker bug". She and the love of her life were riding a motorcycle when a careless driver turned in front of them causing an accident that took Leslie's life. All too common, the driver of the car exclaimed that the motorcycle had "come out of nowhere". In fact, the Harley-Davidson Road King, headlight beaming, was in the normal traffic flow along with other vehicles traveling a major roadway in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio.
The organization, LESLIE'S WINGS, was started by family members and her soul mate Anthony "Tony" Baldridge. The mission of LESLIE'S WINGS is to raise awareness of motorcycles traveling our roadways. Among the goals includes the erection of billboards and other road signs along our highways drawing attention to motorcycle traffic. Special events will be held that allow motorcycle enthusiasts to meet and discuss other issues that will raise motorcycle traffic safety awareness. The slogan "2-4-18 wheels, We all share the same road - We are all in this together" will be a driving force in the campaign.
LESLIE'S WINGS kickoff event will be a fund raiser held at JACKASS FLATS well known to the "biker community" in the Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan areas. The event will be held October 11, 2008, Saturday, Noon until 9PM. There will be live entertainment provided all day by live bands well known to the Dayton community that frequents JACKASS FLATS. A full menu is available to include one of the best pork chop dinners you will ever enjoy.
You don't have to be a biker to enjoy the festivities or support LESLIE'S WINGS. In fact, the "biker community" invites you to get to know them so that you might pay a little more attention to their presence on the roadways. Leslie Whiteman not only had a new passion for motorcycling, but a love of animals that was unsurpassed. LESLIE'S WINGS has a secondary mission dedicated to the health and welfare of lost and homeless animals.
It is our hope that you will support LESLIE'S WINGS and build this organization to fulfill Leslie's legacy. We want to make LESLIE'S WINGS one of the biggest charities that promote the true character of the "biker community" and express the unique combination of people that make up the modern biker lifestyle. We are doctors, lawyers, preachers, health care workers, tradesmen, law enforcement officers and business people all united in that sense of freedom and adventure that the lure of a motorcycle nourishes. Riders need the respect of every driver and user of our highways.
Please support Leslie, her family and friends in this much needed cause. There will be numerous raffles including items in excess of $100.00. You may purchase advance tickets for these "big ticket items". A single ticket is $10.00; 3 tickets for $25.00 and 8 tickets for $50.00. Please make your check payable to "Leslie's Wings" and send c/o Doucher & Doucher, LPA 6065 Frantz Rd., Ste. 104 Dublin, Ohio 43017. These items will be raffled off toward the end of the Rally, however, you do not need to be present. If you would prefer to have your ticket in hand, please send a self-addressed, postage paid envelope and we will return your raffle stubs to you.
AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING "LESLIE'S WINGS".
