Hey king crusher. Hello from the not so great state of Massachusetts. To answer your question, I don't think there are any places in VT to ride in the winter. The trails usually close in late October to avoid damage to roads that are used as trail connectore. I did some riding up in VT until they said I needed to get liability insurance. It's pretty expensive down here. There are a couple of railtrails open in NH like the one that goes from Newport to Claremont (Sugar River Railtrail). Try http://www.nhtrails.org/librar...ATVtrailBikeTrails.pdf for information.

Bearbrook state park in NH is open....went there a couple weeks ago- was a great time, lots of good people there.
Warren NH has some trails/clubs up there...going there this weekend.
They are out there.... just gotta find em.
go to www.atvalliance.com there is a large group of riders that ride in NH.

insurance is not required on an atv in vermont
if you go to the vasa website and look up frequently asked questions it is listed there
Q. Am I required to carry proof of liability insurance on my ATV?
A: No. Vermont Statutes do not require you to carry liability insurance on your ATV, however, VASA strongly recommends that you do have liability insurance.

That's interesting about the liability insurance. I talked to a rep. from the DMV up there that told me I had to have it. I would trust VASA to know more than the DMV to be honest.

I actually stopped riding in VT even though I have land in Barnard that a trail runs through. The insurance would have been almost $300 for 2 quads and VTs riding season is not very long. Maybe I'll reconsider and finally have a chance to see where the trails around my property go. One of them goes all the way to Killington.
