I take it if you don't go left past the pond and keep going straight - leads to the pit?
yep- it's a big pit- take a left into the pit, follow the pit road to the end and take a left onto south st. follow south st about 2000 feet and you'll see the grid lines on your right (that steep rocky hill)

That river isn't even on his property, it belongs to swartz, and I have permission to ride on swartz property- I'm assuming his kids put that there. Swartz lives in texas and ownes about 300 acres across from my house (used to own the whole street- including the street)

There is another trail that takes you straight to the grid from the pit- but I haven't been on it in over 5 years. I'll look for it this weekend.

Luckily I saw it just in time and avoided it. When I got to the spiky section of power lines, I got off and walked it first. I found a couple of freshly buried spikes (these were rusty steel this time, not aluminum).
I decided I would just avoid that part of the trail and I stayed to the far left of the power lines. Well I made it to the top of the hill again only to look down and find two of these in my front tire:

Thanks to Mr. Spiky, I now have about 11 plugs in my almost new tires.

I did not call the PD or anything, nor did I remove any spikes (except the ones sticking out of my tires), so use caution!

Hey thanks for the warning climber, sorry to hear about all those spikes,i have 4 in my new bighorns,Mr.Spiky is really pushing his luck! hes a real SOB.

Hey guys- I've been talking to a lawyer- he says there might be a pretty good case here.
Are you guys willing to give an official statement if it comes to that?

no- actually that's private property- but the court won't be concerned with you riding your atv- the charges are against the owner for using a lethal means to block people.

The lawyer said he could easily argue right to public easement because it's an often used trail and has been for so long.

Beergut - I'm with you on this! I also have some actual damages. On my way back with my front left flat, I took a turn in the woods and slid right into a tree! Smashed my front left side up - anybody got a welder? snapped the bumper wing right off like a toothpick and broke some plastic

I figure my damages are in the 5,000,000 - 7,000,000 range
TC

where do we go from here
