I live in Newington. None of our exhaust are loud. I went riding on friday, had some trouble but I was able to hang with my other two buddies. I have a set of good rear tires that can get me through just about anything as long as it is not to deep, and if it is I can usually find my way around it. Nothing really stops me from riding, I know the limitations of my quad.

Mr. ******** will be charged for the cost of the recovery effort, which involved 11 people from the West Brookfield Fire Department, six from the North Brookfield Fire Department and state environmental police.

Ouch, ouch, ouch....

People should use common sense.

this is pure BS- if he's a working stiff like the rest of us, he's already paying 50% of his income in local city / state & federal taxes- his (our) tax dollars already pay for their service calls- if I were him, I'd fight every cent of that bill, and I wouldn't pay a cent of it!

but I agree, common sense plays a big factor here. It's been so warm lately- he should've known better.
If he pays anything- it should go to the wickaboag lake association- not the town!

This is infuriating. First of all both NB and WB rescue and fire squads are volunteer. Secondly it says his freinds pulled him out, so what did FD really do? And what could the actual costs be? If anything, all those guys were psyched to have somewhere to play with their fire toys on a Sunday morning.

Cities and towns are increasingly trying to charge people for calling emergency services that they are already paying for. I can't wait for these cases to start going to court.

By the way, The Wickaboag Lake Association does charge a fee for submerged vehicles that need to be removed in the spring. I have no problem with this fee.....

Off topic but I needed somewhere to rant.

Paying taxes doesn't mean, he can do whatever stupid thing he wants. He will not pay for emergency work, but for removing his bike from the lake.
