There is a great trail system that is constantly expanding up there. Maine has jumped in with both feet and is doing everything they can to attract riders. This is the website to register your quad(s). https://www10.informe.org/ifw/atv-snow/ Wait until May 1st though. If you register before May 1st it will expire on June 30. If you wait until after you will get the rest of this year's registration plus July 1, 2010-June 30, 2011. I booke at a different place that was on a lake so I can do some fisthing too.

In and around the Moosehead Lake area there are now a lot of places to eat and fuel up right off the trail. Mostly to the South and West of the lake. North is into wilderness with the exception of logging operations. East doesn't have too much in the way of ATVing right now.

I have stayed at Northern Outdoors for the last 8 years between hunting and AtV'ing. Nice place to stay. I have covered just about all the trails in that area. North, South and East of N.O. If you have specific questions PM me a contact # and I will call you. Too much detail to type out.

It looks like Sageboy could answer your questions better than me. What I know is from limited research looking for a place to stay this August. If it is dry up there, there will be dust. We just were up in NH doing a railtrail and even the day after a storm it was dusty.
