I hope I'm in error, Toxic One, but I understand the great bacchanal known as Blackwater has been cancelled for some time now because of a whole tangle of environmental, property rights, maybe even liability issues.

Please, somebody, say it ain't so!

I live in Strasburg, VA and I remember a few years ago when I was looking around in Romney Cycle Center in WV they had some fliers that were about either a Blackwater or Blackhills ride consisting of mud bogs, trails, drag racing, and other events like these. I was up there a while back and I didn't think to ask them of it or see any fliers anymore. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of these events and of the place and whether or not it is still going on. Thanks.

The Blackwater race has not been run for several years, mostly do to the greenies making a ruckus. There is however a "gathering" at "Blackwater" toward the end of April of several hundred people, called "Beerstock." Don't ask me where the name comes from. There are several big mud holes, and it is basically one big party with lots of awsome trucks. It is not sanctioned by anyone and takes place on private land which used to be a 4x4 mud bog and race track. It is mostly 4x4 trucks, jeeps and the like but there are plenty of quads too. I have gone several years and have a lot of fun but I wouldn't call it a "family affair." Last year I was one of the few with a winch on my truck and pulled many vehicles out of the mud with my F150, Chevy recovery vehicle. It's been threatend to be shut down every year but somehow manages to survive. Come at your own risk!

Where's it at Sneeky. I'm a Ford man myself and love the taste of Smoked Camaro for lunch.

The site is just outside of Davis WV. Not even a mile from town. I believe it is Rt. 92 heading toward Mt. Storm. You can see many trucks from the road or just follow the 4x4 traffic. Davis/Thomas WV are very small towns and really can't miss it. I'll post again when a definate date is set or you can email me and I let you know when it is when I find out. Sneeky
