Anyone interested in riding the dunes on labor day weekend? Is it really over crowded that weekend or is it not to bad? Have never been there before so any pointers would be appreciated.. Thanks in advance..

it will be very busy and the hills will be all rutted up. if you do go on labor day friday night youll have to get a voucher for sat. and sat you will have to get voucher for sunday.

 

If you've never been there before, Labor Day wouldn't be a good weekend. By now there will be no place to stay, the parks and motels will be booked, and the Dunes will be packed. The three day weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day) are always the worst time. Anytime after Labor Day will be okay. School starts in MI tomorrow, and that really knocks the crowd down. As far as pointers, bring money, it's about $40 a quad (flag, ORV permit, DNR permit) plus the sticker for your tow vehicle. Check out www.oceana.net for telephone numbers of places to stay, eat, etc. We'll be there again in October. You can also do a search for silver lake stuff this forum or the dune forum. BansheeBrad was just there not too long ago and posted 93(!) pictures of the Dunes, most of them about some chick on a Banshee.(Just kidding). No matter what, you got to go. It's an awesome place to hang.
