Has anyone ever been to the Hot Wells Dunes near Safford, AZ? What is the riding like? I am looking for a place to ride as I have gotton "worn out" on the local areas around Tucson. Anyone who has ever been there, let me know. Are there any opportunities to catch big air? Would paddles be a good idea, or nobbies? Thanks.

I'd love to check that place out - Glamis has gotten way to crazy for me. But, I've never been able to locate it on a map. Is it south of Safford?

There are 1900 acres of park area. From Phoenix, take 60 to Globe then pick up 70 east to Safford. At Safford take 191 south @17 miles to 266 [or Tanque rd] east. travel east on Tanque rd @ 12 miles to Haekal rd. Turn right heading south @ 7 miles and it will be on your left side [east side of the road]

Hey Ridzhard, I'd be happy to meet you down there the weekend of Feb 16-17.

Colt,
ASAP! We are going to hit 80 this weekend. The hundreds will be upon us by the end of April and they stick around until October. It also depends on what part of AZ you are heading to. Temperatures vary greatly in short distances. I left my house in Scottsdale last summer when it was @ 115, drove less than 3 hours away to a ski resort in Flagstaff and it was in the mid 40's. This was all during daylight. By the way, I moved out here last year from Plainfield. Where do you ride at?

Trx 440,
thanks for your post, you lived 15 miles from Downers, wow. I ride in UP Michigan,no trails here as you know. I go to UP every weekend from May till November. Its 5 and half hour drive one way,but it is worth it.
I'd like to go to Arizona when a desert starts to bloom!!!!!!!!/when???/....no specific destination. I'll go to Phoenix, rent a car and go.I gotta find ATV rental places in the desert and have some fun, too.I like above 90 degrees weather, but I hate snakes and spiders. How do you like living there?/I wish I could live somewhere down south, but my wife....can't!/

ridzhard hasn't been to the forums since Oct of '02. He's long gone.

You do know it will be 105-110 [and as high as 120] during the day and if you are there in mid July thru Aug you will see some Texas sized Monsoons just about daily down that way.

I'd go to Disney world.

Yea I know it's going to be hot, but I've never rode in any sand before, so I really don't care. My girlfriend's family lives in Safford, so it's not like I'm going to make a huge trip to go out there.

ridzhard was supposed to sell me an awesome 88 250R a couple years ago, but the day we were going to meet, his wife sold it, then he bought it back.. how strange?
