West Virginians:HELP STOP ATV LAW PROPOSED BY LEGISLATURE

The Chairman of the Judiciary Committee in the West Virginia House of Delegates has indicated he will try to pass HB 4053 through his committee within the next week!

HB 4053 is a VERY BAD BILL for ATV owners. A copy of the actual bill text can be found and downloaded at 129.71.164.29/BillT/bills2002/billsrch2002.cfm . The bill (HB4053) seeks to:

Require ATV operators to get written permission to ride on any private property not owned by them.

Prohibit ATV’s on all public state owned land

Require ATV riders to wear a helmet at all times, even in your own backyard

Prohibit riding a passenger, even in your own backyard

Authorize each County Commission to prohibit ATV riding on all roads within a County

Make it a crime to sell an ATV for use by children under the age set forth by the “Consent Decree”

WE NEED FOR YOU, TO MAKE PHONE CALLS TO ANY OF YOUR DELEGATES LISTED ON THE ATTACHED COMMITTEE ROSTER TO STOP THIS BILL. If you live in any of the WV counties listed by the legislator’s names, please make sure they hear from you and that you know how they are going to vote on HB4053!

Make their phones ring M-F 9am to 4pm, when they are in their Capitol offices.

I will try to contact the Mingo Co. Rep., even though I am NOT a resident, maybe my input will be of some value. Us out-of-staters DO leave behind some serious cash on a trip to H/M!!!!!

 

WELL.......I called the Statehouse(W.Va.) and they wouldn't listen to me as I am NOT a voter(in W.Va.)!!!!!!!!
