Looks as if it will open back up March the 15th. Lets all hold our breath and one of the best spots around will be open again.

All the trails are not going to be open is what the forrest service said. He told me what will be closed but I forgot what he said. I will call them back and make sure what will be open. He said that what is closed will be marked. If you have been there before you know there are miles and miles of riding without wolf pen. Wolf Pen just makes it that much more exciting. A good place to stay is Cossatotriver.com

So, what's the vote? Yay or Nay? gregsims and I, plus some friends of mine emailed the head guy in Mena, and he said they were going to fight for the trails. Some friends of mine made it to Y-City the 15th. I've been there, and compared to Mena, it's a waste of time.

Could not find number to forrest service but called Yamaha dealer in Mena and they said the trails are open. About 80% of the trails are open so with all the other riding it should be great. With all the other trails even without Wolf Pen there was plenty of riding.

Did they say when the other 20% would open?

When I talked to the forrest service last time he isn't sure if it will. In the part they closed is where there was a good bit of erosion. From what he said it is on the north part of the trail system. Greg Sims is supposed to go there and post what is closed once he gets back. I won't be there till April sometime then a bunch are going Memorial Day weekend. Always a bunch of people there then. There are places to stay in Mena and Wolf Pen Campground is suppose to open in may. If anybody needs any more info or would like to go let me know.

I have been waiting for a long time for wolf pen gap to reopen. I live about 35 miles from the trailhead. I called the ranger's office in Mena on Thursday, and 32 of the 43 miles are open. Here is a link to the forest service website....Ouachita National Forest There are maps and other things about the trail there. Here is a link to the campsite, and a little more info on the trails....Update on Wolf Pen Gap

I am going riding there on Sunday and I will post any new information I can find out.
