Anyone from RI/Mass/Conn area?
#1
Looking for other areas and people to ride with. RI really does not have any official riding areas (This state sucks for off road riding). I currently have enough private property to ride on but would certainly like a change in scenery! It would be great to hear from other people in the area and where you ride. I have heard you can ride in some Mass. state forests if you pay for a permit.

Well there isn't a whole heck of a lot in th eastern part of MA either. I am orignally from western mass and there are a lot of legal trails out there. Probably about a 2 hour ride from RI. There also is uxbridge which has a very nice mx track if you are into that. How about RI? I live pretty close? Any places down there at all?
thanks

I see that you are in Attleboro. I do not live far from the Uxbridge MX track but I'm more just a trail rider. At one time, you could ride in the Plainville forest. Is that still the case? Back in the late 70's and early 80's we used to ride there with Joe Morel who used to sell Husqvarnas in your town. I think enduros are still held there. Where do you ride now? I ride on my land and the farm that joins the back of my property. (Farmer and I get along ok, I helped him out of the woods after his horse took one of his fingers off.) I have talked to other guys who ride power lines up my way without being hasseled but have never tried them. It would be good to find a legitimate place with new scenary.
PS
Your ride sounds really nice. Do you race it?

I haven't lived in attleboro for very long so I would not be able to tell you much about the local area. I do race. I will be running in the NEATV series this year. How about you? What do you have for a machine? Any other places in RI you can ride?

I have a 92 Mojave that I purchased new. It has PRM full chassis skid plate, Disc brake/sprocket/swing arm guard (not sure of brand, dealer had hanging on wall but did not have any manufacturers stickers), and DG A-Arm guards (Modified in my machine shop as most DG stuff doesn't seem to fit and designed). Where I ride, rocks are a problem so skid protection was more important than motor mods. Had this for 10 years and I really still like it. Its short wheelbase and tight turning ability work well in the tight NE woods. I was talking to a guy with a Big Bear this weekend who says there is a lot of riding up my way and the police don't hassle him at all. We may hook up, so if its looks ok, I'll let you know. I suspect it is mostly power and gas lines but as it is very rural out here, most people don't complain.

sounds like you have yourself a nice machine there. ya let me know if you here of any places to ride. I have only found uxbridge to be the only place around thats "legal", but have gone down to the cape a couple times. Not too bad dowm there. But sure would like to find a spot around here that I could just go and play around on for a bit. like I said keep me posted on anything new and I will do the same..
thanks
