I haven't run into the problem of not having a place to ride, but I want to comment on the private property issue. Private property means private property. You are not allowed unless you have permission. It is the owner's land and they can choose what to do with it, without justification. Who pays the taxes? Who bought the land? The owner, so he has the right to decide what to do with his land. You say what is it going to hurt? The trails. One guy goes through the trail and totally rips it coming out of a corner. Then he does it again, and again, and pretty soon you have a nice berm and a set of ruts.

The problem of finding riding areas is going to get worse. More and more people are moving to the cities and the greens are corrupting (brainwashing) their minds. The greens portray try to portray all ATVers as ruthless drunks who don't give a damn. That is entirerly untrue. One-percent of the ATVers are ruthless drunks, and they ruin our image. It is a shame.

It can all come down to common sense. Respect private and public property. Don't litter because it just gives the greens another reason to shut us down. And wear helmets. It makes us look good. It send the message that we care about safety.

Yeah, I know a private property owner has a right to allow or not allow someone on his property, and I respect that. I know a giving a good image of your sport also helps out, by riding safely (right protective equipment and within your ability) and not littering everywhere you go. I always ride with a helmet, never litter, and only ride where I am allowed. About rippin' it thru a turn, that I don't agree with you. So what if a berm builds up in the woods. Are the deer gonna trip over it? Most people will probably say erosion, I really don't see a major problem with that around here, maybe there are areas that are affected by this drastically, but not around here. The earth is ever changing and what we can do on our atv's is nothing, and will never compare to what the earth does to itself. I believe that this was another ploy by the environmentalists. I am totally for protecting the environment, but I also think realistically, and with common sense. Which I think most of them don't have. Later...

Fireblade74, good post. We need more people with your attitude. I take it you are refering to the dirt roads along the C&D canal? You need to come to Jersey to ride in Delaware. Sound crazy? There is a piece of Delaware attached to jersey. Its called Kilkohook.I ride there alot, its a few square miles of land. Email me if you want to meet up and ride. Now that the weather is warming im getting the bug to go there. The problem is there arent many people to ride with. I have one guy that rides with me and hes off at school.

Hey mojo! Yeah the canal is the place I'm talking about, I live maybe 3 or 4 miles from it. I never heard of the place your talking about, but I could be interested in it. Where abouts is it? I want to try to do everything I can to get some places to ride in. When I was younger there seemed to be alot more areas to ride in, not anymore at least it seems. Thats a funny thing too, when your little the world seems so big and when you get older it is more familiar and seems much smaller, kinda like the riding areas but sadly the are greatly reduced. I would like to meet up with you sometime and get some riding in, what kind of terrain is it? A few of my friends would probably be interested also, but I need to get my junker back together. I slammed my con rod into the cases and split em, and am in the process of putting her back together. I should have it done within a couple of weeks (hopefully!) . But let me know whats goin' on! I could have some good news about some riding areas around DE also, thanks to some help by Steve. One question I have to everyone here is what kind of riding do you all like? I need to know what people are looking for in order to maybe get something done. Nobody wants to ride somewhere that they don't like now, huh? I don't like mud! or should I say my bike doesn't. ;-> My preference are big snd pits, with big, steep hills and a variety of jumps, kinda a little something for everybody. But let me know what you all think! Later!

If you look on a map ita about a mile or two south of the Delaware Memorial Bridge, on the river. The whole area is blown in dredge mud. The core of engineers pushes it all around with bulldozers and changes the terrain weekly. There is some sand, hills, long roads, mud, and a couple of small beaches.Plenty of trails through the fox tails. Its decent, good sized, and nobody messes with you. What do you ride? Email me when you get it together and we'll ride.

Mojo, that sounds like the kind of place I like. Never knew something that close was around. I ride a 86 Quadracer 250, I almost bought a 2000 400ex last week, it rides really well, but it just doesn't have the speed. I don't know what these magazines all are talking about as how fast it is, cause it sure isn't true. It is a great bike however. I am gonna start putting the engine back together probably this weekend, and should probably have it done by next weekend (hopefully) then I have to work out the bugs. I haven't ridden it in 4 years. But I will surely email you when I get it goin'. I am going to check on something about another area I know of and see if it the same as what you are talking about (dredged land. Later.

I also have a small pit, gravel and sand, within 1 mile of my house. I ride there about every other weekend. Its about 100 sq acres give or take. It gets alittle small but you cant beat riding distance from home. Good luck getting your quad together. talk to ya.
