Stock 400ex gearing is 15/38. So the 14 tooth will be good for hill climbing. I can't wait to try it out. If it's too much, I may just go one tooth bigger on the back. We'll see.

itracer, The race is on May 4th. The website is www.geocities.com/comacclub. I am on an email list and it was registered there. It is at road 25 staging area. There is a short course(25 miles) and a longer one (40+)would be fun. All ages but if under 18 a parent has to be present.

Hey Chad, the difference in dropping a tooth off the primary is awesome. On the kids bike it make the difference of riding and flying. He has a warrior and with me on it(220lbs with gear on)it is a fun ride. Pulls dunes in 3rd no prob. I can't really notice the diff in the top end although you know it had to give up some somewhere.

Hey guys.

Got out on Thursday in the sunshine.... rode some roads out of Estacada and had a great time. Found some new paths to travel and they are starting to dry out good now. Not as muddy. There are still some swamp holes up there if your into it, but no thanks.

Went to SandLake Friday. Got my Geckos on, strapped on some Skate II's on my kids Honda, (Thanks to a good man named Bill). We went over hoping to do some serious sand dune ridin'. As we got closer the weather got worse. We got there and it was a steady drizzle / shower. A little wind. WE decided to try it out..

Mistake #1 I put my $10.00 down the chute before I rode out on the dune! My gosh it was rough. The wet sand is a little different. Got Midway down and it was raining harder, stinging the face. Dang near got run over by a Ford Bronco with no headlights, in the flats.

Went over the second bowl and down, dang near could not get out.

So we turned tail to the truck. Went to Pelican Brew Pub instead. Great clam chowder and Beer battered shrooms.

Hey I want to tell you. ... I learned a strange thing happens at the dunes when it rains. Every dang Jeep, Brono, Truck in the county comes out. They all can get out on sand and not get stuck I guess, cause it hardens up. My gawd there were ruts everywhere. The dunes are wasted for awhile I assure you. Those guys tore up every where. I kept thinking get further in or over to right in tree line, but nope been there too. It was a real zoo to watch all these idiots out there. We sat in lot for awhile just watching the circus. I saw this one rail, intentionally go over to two guys on quads coming into the lot area and he spun around on em and just nailed it !! I never seen such a wall of sand ! Those two dudes were absolutely buried in sand. He shot off up the dune. They went over into parking someplace. Man if that had been me....

I hope he knew them, but still . payback would be serious.

It was no fun at all, everything is chopped up bad. So I did not get to test the sand tires needless to say. Got into third once and had to slow down at that. Gonna read up on where to go with no buggies/trucks, or hope it dries out soon.

We even saw one fool, with a bronco towing a huge car trailer, with a lawn tractor on it. He was buried to the axles, another guy, buried trying to get him out, then three more studs came to the rescue. one bout pulled the axle off the bronco snapping the chain slack and popped him out. THen a big ram pulled out the other. What a fiasco.

Sorry for the long post guys, but you should have been there.
Never in the rain again for me.

2fun, good to see ya here too...

DirtHawg;

Thats just one of the reasons I like to go to Winchester, and Florence.
They are bigger places with fewer idiots!

Sandlake is cool at frist, but once you go to one of the bigger areas, you'll understand why Sandlake is really pretty small. Lots of idiots from the immediate Portland area go there too, and can make it real dangerous for others!

Dualsporter;
Good to see you in here too!
So you are going to St. Anthony's for sure?
I have an extra camping spot reserved, so let me know if you are going to go for sure. I think its gonna be a pretty cool trip!
Have you seen the pics of "choke cherry"??
Now THATS my kind of duning! Dang near straight up and down all the way to the top! Looks like it is 200-300 yds long!

2fun-
choke cherry looks like the fun i'm into
i have't made any reservations yet. but i'm going. right now my brother is a maybe. if it's just me, i'll be in my toyota. if i find someone else to split gas, i hope to have a trailer that'll fit 2 quads by then...(or i'll borrow one) so that just gear is in the truck. if that spare camping spot is open & you're offering, i'll take it. how much are they per night? are they tent spots?
