Did anyone get up to this new riding area over the weekend?,how are the trails?

 

Only part of the OHV park was open. Rumor was that 20 miles of trail was available over the weekend. Also rumored was that there were over 800 registered for ATVAM. I only saw groups of less than 10 at any given time. There were not any trail maps (that I knew about) so you were on your own to discover as much as you could. My opinion would be that a majority of users didn't find their way off of the main "roads" as the trails marked difficult or advanced had little sign of use. All the trails were relatively short but the advanced trails pushed riders to their limits and some beyond. There were 3 injury accidents I was told. The red mud and clay was terrible to get off. The provided wash area was backed up from about noon on it seemed. For the most part - the trail from Eveleth past the campgrounds and to the park was about as aggresive as anything in the park. Less the hills maybe - some were rathar steep. I would recommend going and deciding for yourself whether its worth the trip to go again or not. For the most part I'd say yes although opening the rest of the park won't come soon enough. Some bikes were turned away because of being over the 99 decibal sound limit - tested at the park entrance. My stock 500Ho was suppose to be pushing 92db. Go figure.
