I have some friends that have recently moved to Ft Collins. We have thought about visiting them and I was wondering what kind of riding was available in that area? I assume there are some awesome trails but I wanted to get some input. Thanks for any suggestions!

Default Riding near Ft. Collins,CO?

Recently I went to a place called "Kelly Flats" with my Grizzly. First go north on US 287, then Go west on Highway 14 about 25 miles. Just past the Kelly Flats Forest Service Campground, there is a dirt parking lot to the right off the highway. Kelly Flats is a rather difficult Jeep trail so I'm not sure what type of riding you're into. About 1 1/2 to 2 miles in there is a very rocky hill you must climb, 4wd is a must. They call it Heart-attack hill. I only went about 5 miles in, the trail is supposed to be 8-9 miles long. Check it out if you're testing your 4wd abilities. Hope this helps. Otherwise, you can just about go into any Nat. Forest to the west of town and ride around there.

Another place you might want to check out is the Walden sand dunes. About 1.5 - 2 hours west out of Fort Collins up hwy 14. Fun sand dunes and jeep trails all around them. I was up this weekend and the sand was nice and smooth with the SNOW on them...wooohoooo..
