Do the LA dunes have any good sized hill's? What type of riding do they have;Drags, hills, ect..?
And does any one know what woudl be best to use on a sportsman 400, and a big bear 350 in the sand?
Already got the tires picked out for the rap.

You might find a hill or two that will break the 80 ft. mark but that's about it. You see its an old sand pit and if I had to guess its only around three hundred acres. It's privately owned and he charges 10 bucs per quad and 5 bucs per person. Good drag racing and its usually rough and there are plenty of fast bikes.

Actually the LA is the postal abbreviation for Louisiana.

You mean to tell me you didnt hear what happened to him for Thanksgiving weekend at the Dunes. Me and him were racing between the two hills in the valley and you know how it gets pretty rough about 200 yards out. Well, he got bucked off and took a really nasty spill. Knocked him out for a few minutes. Broke his collar bone, bruised hip and ribs and hurt his pride really bad. They had to cart his *** away in the ambulance. He only messed up his steering stem and handlebars. The bike actually flipped three times in the air. I was right next to him when it happened, it looked a lot worse than it really was. He was lucky.

my son and i have been trying to get to la dunes for a year now. he races mx and we race almost every weekend so we dont get much time for just play riding anymore. maybe ya'll can answer a couple of questions for me. do they allow camping, do they have hook ups. i was told you really dont need sand tires and would not really like to spend the money to put them on 3 quads if i can do without them. do they get much of a crowd this time of year. we might have to go by and pick up a cannibal from my sons sponsor and head that way soon. i dont think it would be a good idea to bring the moto. later

Yes they have camper hookups and there are about 30 hookups. I would call to reserve one if you think it will be a busy weekend, especially around the holidays. As for the sand tires, it's like tips for a bartender; they are not required but greatly appreciated. 80% of the dunes is soft sand. To enter the dunes you have to cross a stream with a 30° embankment which is pretty steep and has soft sand. I would visit the place first without paddles and make the call after that. I rode without them for a year. As far as the crowd goes it not that packed this time of year but it does get really packed in the spring and summer. The cost is 10 bucs per bike and 5 bucs per person. I think it is an extra 10 bucs if you spend the night and I dont know how much it is for a hookup. Bring some cash and you need a flag and helmets are not required.
