Yup I have ridden it, late last year. I was impressed only by the scenery. The trails themselves have been so overmanaged that they are like paved trails. Every single spot that was even moist was filled in with gravel and every turn in the trail was widened. It gives the impression that you are on a scenic highway when you drive it It is probably worth a look but you will have a tough time making a full day of it. But no matter what......even a bad day of riding is better than a good day of working.

OHV Park is pretty hard to ride. Not much mud, mostly hills and rocks and 100 foot cliffs to ride off of.

Default red dot trail questions

The Gilbert OHV Park reminds me of the movie Logans Run –
You can ride your dirty little atv’s here
You can tear up mother earth here
You can climb hills and follow trails,
In this area here – this little hole in the world
Worthless to anything else area, Yes – you can play in the dirt here –
stay inside the fence, stay inside the lines,
We are watching you.
Someday – this is all we will have of public riding areas –
I find that unacceptable.
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gaiye,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Rip - Sorry to loose you so soon!

Logans Run - where a secretive group of elders controlled the city in the future. Anyone over 25 was eliminated in a giant bug zapper that everyone was told would recycle their spirit. The ignorant celebrated the event, the rebels fought to expose it. In that city - anything you wanted was available - but only in designated areas so no one was offended. Enforcers combed the city microwaving anyone refusing to be recycled. The Gilbert OHV Park reminds me of that movie - and it scares me. I predict that sometime in the future our available riding areas will be limited to these kind of micro dirt parks. Any riding outside of the park will result in a spirit recycle..... Gilbert is more then a place to ride, its where we will be restricted to. Its our future detention camp. This is based on the trend to restrict where we ride vs. opening the trails the DNR said they would provide. Gilbert is now where they will point their finger with a motion to take our smelly, dirty, noisy 4 wheelers with us... You wont see anything like Voyageurs or Yellowstone open to us, just the opposite - now they can say they gave us Gilbert and we should be happy with that scrap of turf to ride on.

So I say rebel, rage! - do not go gently into that place.

OK I get it.

But I dont think that will happen because; 1: We(ATVers) wont let it happen and 2 (most importantly) the green groups will protest very new place we ride on.

Oh and I went back up to the OHV this last saturday and had a blast. I got to ride about 90% of the park. It was an awesome day, sunny and about mid 30s of a high temp, plus 6" of snow. We got really good at backing down hills in reverse. But it wasnt that bad, we made it up most of the hill climbs.
