When are you going to Utah and the Paiute Trail? Hope you post a summary of your ride. I've been there for the past 4 years and ridden in the Rocky Mountain Jamboree. I've never ridden the entire Paiute Trail, though. Do you take a GPS receiver?

dlc669 is now "paws" I'm going to go in july some time, just the 2 of us for now are only ones going my son and I him on a new 400 scrambler and me on a new 500 scrambler. Were going to do entire loop, starting in Salina ut. Have you been near Circleville? That small loop was only one we missed last time, was closed due to snow in june. We hope to do a lot of searching old trails. Do you know of any real neat areas when you were there? maybe we'll run into you out there, ride safe

Yes, I've been to Circleville a couple of times, but right now I can't remember much about the ride except the 1st time it snowed the day before our Jamboree ride and I really got cold, wet, and muddy. I just looked at my GPS "track" that I saved from the second time I rode it, and still can't picture much of what we saw. If you have a GPS, I might be able to send you my "track" file that you can enter into your GPS (if you have one) and then you can just follow the track. I can't imagine riding out there without the GPS, and maps, of course, too. The Lowrance GM100 GPS receiver I bought has all the Paiute Trails on the accompanying CD. Just have to load in that area, and the trails are displayed.
I probably won't get back to UT until September, so I guess I won't run into you. Hope you have safe rides!

I am heading to Moab, Utah this week for a week of atving with a buddy who is going out for the Eastern Jeep Safari. I picked up a book at Barnes N Noble titled "Guide to Colorado Backroads and 4wd trails vol. 2" It is pretty detailed, giving difficulty ratings and detailed trail descriptions. Obviously there is a volume one as well. I picked this volume up because it has areas near both Ft. Collins and Grand Junction, two places where we may go to if the Jeep Safari is too crowded.
Since it is an entire book, I won't go into all the trails they list. Up by wyoming is supposedly one of the most difficult trails in Colorado, the Kelly Flats. Unfortunately, it is closed from sometime in November to sometime in May.
Try looking up at amazon.com or your local bookstore for the book I spoke of above, written by Charles A. Wells, published in 1999 by Funtreks Inc. email funtreks@pcisys.net, phone 719-536-0722
I am in no way associated with them, I know it sounds like I'm trying to sell the book. Enjoy the ride.
