WOW WOW WOW I am wishing I would have gone now! It looks and sounds like it was quote the ride. I needed to invest some good quality time with my wife thus we ended up at Lions Head on the North East shore of Priest Lake Saterday. We only had two of the 5 kids so we took advantage. The water was awesome, had a good time and drove some of the back roads back there, its amazing where my little mazda car will go!
I ended my weekend a little different though. . . . . on my way home my shin was itching like somthing fierce! It got so bad I finally pulled the car off the road, got out, pulled my pant leg up to find a smattering of blood smeared all over my shin. "OH BOY" I figured I got a tick and just tore him off by scratching. Not wanting to freak out my wife (wife + tick = BAD TIME), I just got back in the car and went on home. By Sunday afternoon I had this nice circular "bite" that was red with a little whiteis/yellowish starting to show. I also noticed "bites"on the sides and backs of my calves. The bites looked wierd, kind of like a dozen little mosquito bites all in a line forming a little ridge on my leg about 7 inches long. Of course everything was itching, not wanting to itch I just kind of rubbed a little bit when I couldn't stand it any longer. Needless to say I didn't get any sleep Sunday night as I was ready to saw off my leg. I called into work and then went into the urrgent care first thing Monday morning as the "bite" was starting to look down right ugly. Of course while in the shower I began to notice the same "type" of bites on my chest, stomach, belt line, groin and the underside of my right arm. OH MY LORD! What in the world got a hold of me!!!
The doctor took one look at my leg and chuckled . . . . that ain't no bite. . . you run into Poisen Ivy . . . . WHAT!! POISEN IVY!! LORD LOVE A DUCK, I JUST WANTED TO KILL OVER RIGHT THERE! I have lived in easter WA for over 25 years of my 32 years and NEVER have run into poisen ivy.
Here is the kicker to my experience!! My wife wore a skirt & sandels, my son had shorts & sandels, I was wearsing jeans and shoes! I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT GOT POISEN IVY!
This is a first time for me and hopfully the last. . .
None the less I am still alive, catch up with y'all later!

Xploridaho:
Hey John.. Any chance on Wednesday July 19 that you could do a ride? I have a friend that wants to ride Wallace. Its his day off and my vacation week, trying to get as much saddle time in as i can. Im sure I can round up another few people also. Rob and JayDeeCoy come to mind for that day off also.
If you can that would be cool, if not thats ok also. Just thought Id toss the idea up in the air.
Let me know man..

xploridaho, Thanks. A friend and I are going to start from the lookout pass side and I didn't really want to carry a chainsaw if I didn't have to.
Viper65, My rack system was designed by me and welded by a friend. It all starts with a 1 1/4" receiver that is welded to some steel plate that is bolted to the ATV frame. I then built the rack, which can hold a pair of chainsaws, fuel cans, small ice chests or whatever, which slips into the receiver and is then bolted to the atv in two places to add stability and prevent rattles. From there I built a 1 1/2 gallon fuel container holder that attaches to the frame of the rack by a system that is identical to a stinger going into receiver. Also, I have a shovel holder that is attached to the very back of my rack. If you would like to see more pictures just send me your email address. If you're interested in making your own I have some extra parts for cheap.

We went for a last minuite ride out of Fernan yesterday...a few more roads than I like but once we found trail 28 we were good ta go....I had NO IDEA there was such a huge look out tower up there....does anyone know the name of the hill its on or the name of the tower??
I think Im going to take the Boy Scouts up there next month and clean it up...alot of broken glass in the tower and a bad board at the top....But absolutly AWSOME views of the Lake CDL and the entire area....
If you guys have never been up there its worth the ride...I cant wait to get the wife and kids up there...
Xploridaho....are there any lookout towers in the Walace area??
Kickin myself for not takin the camera...

Xploridaho, I thought I did a lot of ridding (6,400 miles on my 04 Kodiac) until I read you rode your polaris of 11,000 miles. Anyways I have question for you? Every year we have a family atv camp out were we camp off the ATVs. The last 2 years we have camped at Elsie and Made loops of bad tom to slate creek and back up big creek, down to browson medows (did not let kids go down that trail). Basicly we have exlpored almost all the trails of that area. This year I was studying the map and am thinking of heading up red oak. MY question is the trail good enough to get up a ways with quads loaded with camping gear and are there any place that would be sutible for camping along the way? We also have kids on 2 wheel drive wheelers. They made all the elsie rides but the camping gear was down at the lake. THe only place they did not like was headed to slate creek across bad tom where they need to blast a little more rock out and out by cematery ridge where there is a real long climb on a lot of shale rock. One other question can you still get from pine creek to falls creek or is it all blocked off? I know a couple of years ago Forest Capital was trying to close much of that area off infact we had to come in from the Latuor Creek side and go by the paliside mine and down to get through.
