I need to find out a couple of things about the terrain. Is there any difficult stuff? My freind wants to bring his wife, but doesn't want to ride double through any tough stuff. Also like to know how much pavement will we hit, like between Avery and Calder. Kinda tough on those big spendy tires you know. I can meet wherever everyone else wants to.

Will try and make it too. Sounds like alot of fun. It's going to depend on work, 50-60hr weeks this time of year. I'll keep my fingers crossed nothing breaks down.

Here is a plan that may work that shouldnt be too difficult--there are some steep parts but nothing to radical HEHE!! As far a meeting we will be camping up the st joe--so the easiest for us would be to meet in calder and take off from there into herrick via the Rail road grade--it is gravel not hwy. Turn onto 1907 to cemetary ridge to trail 226 down to elsie lake. There are some off shoot trails we can take too and check out. From the lake we would like to ride up 106 then loop back around to a cache we want to check on up above elsie lake then back out cemetary ridge.
If you want to make a bigger loop there are trails that will take you over to moon pass then down slate creek into avery then back to calder via the railroad grade. You can either go back towards wallace and over moon pass and down or there is a trail that cuts across the hillside that is VERY technical. Not very wide and straight down.
As far as meeting areas there are a couple of options, we can meet in calder and unload there, or meet at the bottom of elsie lake. There is a road in from I-90 where the sunshine memorial is. If you drive up that road there are some gravel pits where u can unload and ride in from there. There are some cool side trip areas too.
I hope that makes sense.
Anyway--any other quesitons let us know

Sounds like fun! Unfortunately, we won't be able to make it out with you all this time around. We've had plans to go camping with some friends that weekend for some time now. Next time for sure though! I did just go ride dirtbikes with some buddies over that way on Tuesday so I won't be going through withdrawals too bad...k, that's probably a lie. Have fun everyone...pictures, lot's of pictures!!!

Hey guys. I'm just lerking out here, but you've nailed it. Great ride between Moon Pass/Cemetary Ridge/Lake Elsie/Calder/Avery loop. LONG ride for all day. We're gonna check out Crystal Lake just north of Cataldo, I guess. Never been there, but my friend says it would be a cool area to check out on the quads. You can avoid most pavement from Calder to Hoyt to Avery on the frontage road south of the highway along the river. Can anyone point me in any good directions around Crystal and Mystic Lake area??? There is about a 100 ft spot going from Moon Pass to Elsie that is such an incline, we put 1 or 2 people on the uphill side of a quad to keep it from rolling. Have done it solo, but has serious "pucker power."
On a sidenote, 02 Vinson still running strong. Just installed a new Dayco belt after 2300 miles. The Dayco looked like a heavier duty belt than the stock Suzuki one, so we'll see what it does...

Hey all- We were just wondering if anybody was still interested in riding into elsie lake this next weekend. I think we will be going no matter what. We may also ride over to sherfoot mtn to get the newest cache over there. So let us know if anybody is still interested in riding.
