Default Rhino 660 getting slower

I got a 2007 Rhino, when i firts got it used it only did 35mph, ever since it has gotten slower now only 28mph. In reverse it will do 25mph, and that is fast. What can it be?

Depending on how the former owner rode it, maybe he got a lot of water and mud in the clutches, a good place to start may be taking them apart and cleaning them out, if the sheaves are not moving like they should, it could cause loss of speed due to the belt not being able to ride up in the pulley, giving you the "higher" gear that would give you more top speed.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind if I ever have such a problem. I have never taken mine apart, but assume it is like the 660 Grizzly and you use the bolts holding the cover to disassemble the clutch?

there is a 4 bolt sheild/ bracket that is around the primary, you take that off and then the main nut on the shaft. then it just slids off, to get in the clutch you take 8 screws out.

Thanks, do you have the torque specs? I need to get a shop manual for mine and my Grizzly too.

ya, I got the shop manual, but you can get one at http://www.rhinoforums.net/showthread.php?t=2399 and that should get you to a place to get the download. but the outer plastic cover is 10 Nm for all the bolts and the bearing housing or bracket is 10 Nm = 7.2 ft. lb. the main nut on the primary is 120 Nm = 85 ft. lb. and the screws on the clutch are 3 Nm = 2.2 ft. lb. and use 90 grams of Grizzly Grease for the whole clutch and collar.

Thats for the Rhino 660, but assume it may be the same for the Grizzly 660
