Default electrical question...help!!!

well as i posted a while before, the starter button will not start my quad and i gotta put a metal object and spark the starter relay. The starter relay is not broke and i would assume the starter is fine. Annoyed....i decided to take the light/cutoff/starterbutton assembly. o, before i say anything else, last week when i was ridin it i noticed the neutral light didnt work anymore all over a sudden. i just thought it burnt out. Well when i pretty much completely dismantled the innards and was left with just the wires attached. For some reason i turned the lights on and my friend noticed that suddenly the neutral light came on.

WHat the heck is going on??!?!?!?
Then, i hear a buzzing noise comin from the rear by the battery..its not the relay but one of the wires that plugs in vertically. There are two next to each other and its the one closest to the rear of the quad. i unplugged it while the lights were on and engine running and the noise was gone. im confused.

Then i put it in reverse for a second while standing over the quad and then put it back into normal drive and the neutral light was didnt come on..huh? then i turned the lights off and back on and the neutral light came on.

Im still learnin about electricity. Does anybody know what is wrong?

And about the starter button...how check to see if it is the button that is the problem. do i check if there is current going through or something? Can i bypass the switch and just use the wires to try to trigger the starter to see if its in the wires. YA know, kinda create what the starter button would do. how can i mimic the starter button.

Sorry for the length of this post and my ignorance, but i really need help as im trying to sell it and i learn something everyday. thanks!

yeah, clean both battery terminals really well, the the connections on the relay also. Then check to see that your wires(under/behind) the key guard are in good shape, no crimped/pinched or partially cut areas. It does sound like a bad ground connection somewhere......

Good luck

Default electrical question...help!!!

what about the starter...how can i test to see if the button works. How can i duplicate what the starter button does. Do i just touch the wire with a metal screwdriver or something?

Y would turning the lights on affect if the neutral light goes on. And why is it making that sound in the rear of the quad on the one wire connection? thanks

Look for a pinched wire somewhere. I pinched one on the handlebars of my Raptor and it did all kinds of weird stuff.

If you have a test light and a jumper wire I think I can help you figure it out.

Default electrical question...help!!!

Had a similar problem with a 300ex that i swapped motors in for a friend and have had some electrical problems with my warrior. The Reverse and neutral lights wouldnt work right and would go on and off randomly sometimes, the starter wouldnt work and it made random clicks on hums, it turned out to be a bad ground and loose connections at the battery and with the switches. Clean up all the ground connections, Battery Teminals, and starter related connections and that may solve your problem.

Warrior86 I seem to be having the same problem first it wouldnt start by button narrowed that down to the relay its clicking real bad like the contacts are sticking. So I cleaned the terminals on it and the battery still doesnt work, ordered a new one its on its way but now Im still thinking I have a bad ground somewhere because my neutral light is doing the same thing as yours comes on and off and it wont pull start so it has to be a bad ground somewhere I just havent found it yet. Ill keep you posted when I find the problem. In the mean time does anyone have any other suggestions?

Default electrical question...help!!!

hey, well i jump started it off my raptor and rode it for ten minutes...battery was still pretty much dead. after taking the light/starter buttton assembly apart and putting it back together, whenever i would put the lights on, i would hear a buzzing noise. it sounds like the vibrator on a beeper or cell phone. NOT like the sound the starter relay makes when its messed up or the battery is going dead.

maybe it is the battery? that might be the problem why its not holding a charge...maybe the battery is done. But the starter?, i dont understand how the battery would affect that. Maybe its a ground somewhere but i dont knkow where the grounds are...like i said. I learn something every day!

thanks for the help. P>S. i wont be able to physically try anything on it til the weekend.
