Default What grade gas?

Hey,

for some reason it never crossed my mind that my Warrior might want something other than just regular grade gas. but then i saw my buddy filling his Scrambler 500 with premium and said i should do the same. my warrior runs fine on regular but i guess i can pay a little extra for premium if it's actually needed. thought? gas is relatively cheap at the moment, $1.25 for regular. As long as an engine is not knocking or pinging, you don't need to up the octane. All a higher octane does is burn slower. Higher compression engines need this because they burn faster and need higher octane to compensate for this. The only reason companies like Yamaha say to use nothing less than premium is because some stock engines will ping and knock with 87 and others won't. It is just to ensure no knocking or pinging so customers don't bring their bikes in to the shop complaining that something is wrong. To get the most power out of your engine, run the lowest octane that your engine does not knock at. If your engine does not do these things with the gas you have in it now, the only thing you would accomplish by going to premium is emptying your wallet faster.

Hope this helps you.
