Default advice from faster rappys

hi, i've got an 02 with just a trinity exhaust and holes in the air box. jetted of course also. what sorts of things can i do to make it faster without making it unrideable? i always see you guys talking about stage 1 and 2 cams, does the stage 1 make much difference? do i need a higher compression piston to make much difference? do the valve springs have to be changed? or should i save money up and buy one of these craycraft 686's i hear so much about. or a 727? i don't really have anyone to race around here but i love going fast. on these craycraft engines, how long is your head gone while they port it usually? thanks very much for any info. oh one more thing, how much compression can i use without race gas? thanks

There are a ton of things you can do, like small things such as going up 1 or 2 teeth on the front sprocket for like 10 bucks!!

You should be able to go up to a 11:1 piston and still run on Super Unleaded with no problems, and while you are already there install a Hot Cams Stage One Cam and you don't have to change valve springs.

how much difference does the stage 1 make? mine pulls like he!! down low but kinda peters out on the top end. i'd be fine with running super unleaded but i don't wanna run race gas. also, what's the hot clutch to run right now? i've done a search and i know NOT to use barnett fibers, but what is the best one to use? thanks for the quick replies so far.

Well if you like the front end in the air, you will like the stage one cam. I had a stock bore 11:1 JE piston with a stage one and loved it. Now I went a little bigger and in two weeks I can tell you how it runs. Get in touch with Bob Craycraft tomorrow and we will answer all your questions.

yes i like the front end in the air, that's for sure. so with the 11:1 and stage 1 i will see a fairly substantial increase? right now i can pull a wheelie in third, will those allow me to wheelie in fourth lol?

If you have a 15 tooth sprocket and the Stage 1 Cam and 11:1 JE Piston it will definetely fly!!

well that's cool then. i'll probably go that route. you meant 12 tooth right? i'm not much for the extremely high speed riding.
one more thing, i'm a ford dealership mechanic by trade so i know cars but when i put this piston in, do i put in a new sleeve, or have the stock one bored and honed, or what is the norm? also is it a good idea to put new valve springs in?
