raptor reverse light coming on and cutting out????
#1
I was racing tonight and my raptor cut out like it was out of gas and the reverse light came on. I let off the throttle and it cleared up, got back on the throttle and it cut out again with the light coming on. I had gas, but i had just put it on reserve. Any suggestions???????

I know Warriors had a cutting out problem due to the reverse switch not having a good ground, find out where is is grounded, should be a quick connector on the back near the right case side(if it is like a Warrior) make sure that wire is tight, or put it on a direct ground to the frame, and see if that takes care of it. I hope I'm on the right track, I haven't worked on a Raptor engine, but I'm assuming Yamaha wiring is pretty much the same on most 4 stroke quads.

Any more suggestions??? Ill check that ground wire tomorrow, anyone know where exactly that wire is located? I went out looking for it but couldnt really see.

Dude it's the reverse switch ground. My cousin raptor had the same problem(every time the bike cuts out the reverse light came on)
The reverse ground wire is located , on the left hand side of the engine, under the front spocket(shound be little black connection) make sure that it's getting connection. I'am sure that's the problem.

Just ground the wire by the sprocket. The L shaped one ground it to the frame and you will have full speed in reverse. Be careful you dont wreck with it in reverse it goes fast.
