yamaha or honda
Well, i was recently faced with the same decision. I went to a quad rally using my fathers 99' Kodiak, and to make that long story short, I won a honda 350es 4x4 in the process. Now I think that Honda makes a bike which would be my second choice for an utility ATV. But, what i did was looked at a Kodiak 450 and that made my choice easier. I traded it in for the Kodiak 450. thekodiak 450 has an engine brake, is automatic(H,L,R,park) and has switchable 2wd to 4wd. It also has a differential lock which can come in handy. A major draw back that i didnt like about the honda was drum brakes all around and no switchable 2wd to 4wd. also i dont like honda fenders wich are riveted with plastic rivets. Plastic holding plastic together, no thanks. the kodiak also came with a free winch. nuff said. the Kodiak had more bells and whistles which i liked better. So the choice is yours but i will stay with yamaha for a long time yet

I got a 03 grizzly 2 days ago and yesterday was my 1st time riding it, so i wanted to break it in for a big ride i was goign to go on i put 10 miles on it and i had it up to 52 mph bc they say not to ride it rough for a few miles and i tried out the 4wd after i rode it for a little bit and i heard a snap i looked in the front end and my front right cv joint exploded and ripped my boot to shreads so i took it back to the dealer and they said it was weak metal so now this sucks im without a 4wheeler for a week while they order the part.

Ridley you've lost it bud...Yamaha burned countless customers with the raptor transmission and they will again when the weak link is found in the new quad
Hey tlchicken5...if you do end up with the Yamajob let me know when it breaks
1st I'll say I told you so...should have bought the Honda
then I'll help you fix your messed up Yamie
Good luck man

I would go with the yamaha for 4 main reasons,1 all of yamahas sport quads except for the raptor and that new 450 have been around for years and yamaha has got just about every kink worked out in ever one, and the raptors have been reliable since their first year coming out. 2 if your going for utility yamaha has got alot of diffrent quads to choose from, from 660's to 250's and 4x4 and 2x4. Since yamahas sport quads have been around so long you have alot of diffrent aftermarket performance products for them. and 4 yamaha has always had a reputation for being one of the most reliable machines you could ever buy, tehy are also tuff when you need them to be, i can ride my warrior everyday for about 6 monthes and never have to do anything to it besides change the oil, check the oil, and put gas in it, and check your tire pressure, but most people do that stuff after every ride. watever you buy ,make sure you get something that has some power so its there when you need it most.
