Did you get it out of a tap? I know when they bottle the stuff it really hurts the flavor from more fresh beer. I know if you get the chance to drink some fresh brewed it's a lot better than after it's bottled or canned.

MichealAZ,

I think that's a great idea. How about next Wednesday? Four Peaks would make a fine ATVConnection spot only this time ATV stands for Alchohol - Tasting - Venue. You want to post it here or do you have everyone in your speed-dial already?? I'm leaving for Durango tomorrow and won't be back till next Monday. I'll PM you with my cell. I'm looking forward to putting a face to the biggest bunch of $hit-talker's this side of Texas. -Rob

Just brewed up a 6 gallon batch of nut brown tonight. Got that and 9 gallons of amber all fermenting. Pretty quick I'm goin' CO2-- kegging--and getting out of the bottle conditioning thing. Heck if I wasn't so far away from everything there could be an ATV bench racing & beer tasting session at the Shady Brewhouse. Guess I'll just quaff it myself, and tell you about how good it was..........

just racked my 5 gal ale in the secondaryglass carboy last night, I'll leave it there for a week then bottle her up next wed/thur, recipe calls for 2 weeks min bottle time. Brewing up honey brown tonight since there is a first stage now open Wish I could make it high octane like my last batch(8%)

Man 8% is like Barley Wine! I have pretty much settled into 1.044-1.048 OG and finishing at 1.015 to 1.012. I think my content (by volume) runs about high 3's to mid 4's. But you got me thinking about making a strong batch with mostly 2 row, a little amber and crystal, like an IPA that knocks you flat, like OG 1.065. My local brewmaster @ Bitterroot Brewing suggests racking into secondary then leaving in refridgerator for a week, then kegging. Really settles the yeast & proteins out, like leaving bottled in fridge for a couple weeks. Almost as clear that way as filtered. Me likes 'em clear.
