Default FCRs or Quicksilver for 686

The Edelbrock carb is also a "pumper" carb. It has an adjustable accelerator pump that shoots gas into the carb when you hit the throttle instead of waiting for the vaccum slide to catch up like the stocker. It is like running a stock vaccum secondary carb on an old Chevy 350, vs. running a new Demon mechanical secondary carb with double pumpers, or a dual quad long runner intake setup. Both aftermarket setups are better than stock. The Edelbrock and single aftermarket V-8 carb are both better for bottom end, torque, and overall better driveability. The FCRs and the dual quad setup on the V-8 allow for more top end performance, but setup and tuning is more difficult than the single carb.

For the average rider, I would say that the Edelbrock is the superior carb setup. For the extra $300-400 that you would spend for the FCRs, just imagine what other HiPo goodies you could buy for your Raptor.

For the all-out drag racer that already has everything else, I think the FCR's would be the hot ticket.

This is all just my opinion, but it is based on my personal knowledge of engines and everything I have read on here over the past 8 months. (And I have read almost every post on the Yamaha page) I have the Edelbrock carb currently, and it is working great. I should have some dyno pics vs stock carbs in the next couple weeks. I have peronally never used the FCRs.
