Rejet With These Mods On Warrior?
#1
Sup guys i was wondering if id have to rejet with the Alba Cam&Piston kit .450 lift cam a 10:75 comp piston. Im also going to be needing to change the oil my manual calls for 10W-40 SE but I have a case of 10W-40 SL will it hurt to put that in? TIA

Sure will because you are moving more air through the head of the engine when you put a top end cam in it. It shouldnt be a great jump though. As far as the oil, I dont know what SE and SL stand for believe it or not, but I dont figure it would hurt at all to run it.

I run about the same mods as that, er ran, and soon will be running again lol. I used a 155 main jet but it left some ash on the plug so it was lean. Also, I never did get the mid range right. Was always to rich but the top end was lean. Had the needle clip on the very top setting and was still rich in midrange and lean on top. Wierd huh.
Pretty much buy a 150, a 155, and a 160. One of them will probably work for you.
You will also have to adjust the air screw, but that isint really an air screw, its just for idle. I think I did mine out around one extra turn to get it to idle good.
Also, your bike kinda becomes a two stroke it has about the same or a bit better pull all through the rev range until you hit mid then it starts to pull a lil more, then you hit top end and it pull hard.

the air srew has nothing to do with jetting with those mods you will need to rejet i reccomend the dyno jet kit it will help you understand jetting what year is your warrior does it have the accelerator pump?

I got a jet kit from dynojet for my warrior not too long ago... the biggest jet it came with was a 150. Their instructions basically divided everyone in two groups... those above 3000 ft elevation and those below... if you were below they suggested a 148 which really didnt do the trick with a K&N airfilter and modded airbox. 150 runs good (I used the needle included in the kit and left it on the setting they suggested... groove 4 I think) and I have no major complaints... but the bike does run a bit more rough till it warms up.... Once its warm it shines. Can't help but think I might have been able to go bigger on the jet though.
Also everyone else is right... the air mixture screw only affects idle.
One bit of warning if you are gonna adjust the needle or replace it with the one that comes in the kit... you might have a bit of trouble with the screws that hold the needle slide in place. The factory used locktite on them and I had to use a special tool to break them free without stripping them.
