Wrenching.OF corse evryone need to update there quads.Raptor needed a new tranny.Dont tell me u never worked on ur 250r b4.Its obvious all 2 strokes need to be worked on from time to time.

 

The question of displacement is certainly a factor but much of it has to do with the efficiency of the motor to create power rather than size. The Raptor has much more bottom end than a Predator but the Pred motor pulls way harder up top...similar to a 2 stroke if you will. In the drag races it revved quicker and with the great top end power would beat the Raptor. Now on the trail it was different, the Predator will most likely out perform the Raptor due to stability but motorwise you have to stay in the powerband where the Raptor has tons of torque and doesn't need to be shifted so much. If you can handle the Raptor well on tighter woods trails, it will be faster than the Predator. Good Luck.

 

jsyi - I ride at glamis a lot and I only get lucky enough to have compition at the hill, what mods you got on your pred? and are you the one with the red and blue lights on the valve stems?

 

CTraptor - do you just have the pipe kit? No engine/motor mods? Because with my mods I havent been beat by another raptor yet or a predator. I know they didnt have engine mods though except one had a piston and cam and I still beat him. Note Im a 140 lbs rier and they all out weighed me.

 

No I got a hi-comp piston and a cam... but like your case havent lost except for two that I know were 686's with some small kids on them. Also I just remembered I have yet to race another CT bike, maybe sometime this next season we can set-up some races.

 

I havent got to race any 686s but I dont really know if I want to besides to know what I can gain power wise from what Im at now to a 686. I got to race a DS at sandlake with NOS (didnt use it) but it had an extended swingarm so there musta been some stuff done to the motor besides the pipe he had but I dont know, maybe not but I traded wins with him. I dont know if he was the greatest rider though because he shouldve SMOKED me if he had engine mods. By the way how is the reliability/dependability with the piston and cam in there too? Someday if I can get the courage to make the 24 hour drive to glamis we could meet up. Have you ever been to the Oregon dunes though? I ride there alot s if your ever up here we can meet up to.

 

you will have competition this year and next,when is the next trip to glamis?I think i am busy for thanksgiving(Dumont) but what about halloween?

 

Wild - I have ran it since January and have had no problems.

Raptor03 - We already got a race, we just got to set a date.. You get your new paddles yet? by this season I should have diff paddles and hopefully the filters for my adapter.. still havent got your reply back from BT yet.

 

sorry bro ,they have them at rocky mountian,they are the k&n pod filters or uni pod filters,they are 2" or 2 1/2 inches wide in the opening and 5" long,i use the foam so i can clean easier,and the sand doesent effect them..

I ride with my buddy and he has a 03LE raptor. Sweet bike! My choice if i didnt get the pred. Anyways, i've got my bike geared down pretty good, 13t front, 38 rear, and i can still pull on him in 5th gear. When i had the bigger 22" tires on i pulled on him even better..so with stock gearing top end i'd pull away no problem! Same thing as my cousins banshee..basically we'd be side by side until he clicked it in to 6 and i went into 5th and i'd pull away..if i got ANY kind of jump on him, i'd pull away no prob..and both of these guys are better riders then me. This is my first sport quad..my cousin has had a ton of em! he can ride!
