Bought Used banshee Hour Later Blew Tranny
So bummed, was down in Pismo last week with my Rappy. Stopped by a local store in Santa Maria, and found a used Banshee, that looked in good condition (Not being a mechanic). Asked the guy, hey can I start it, he said sure go for it. Started on the first kick and just purred. So I told him I would take it, it was on Consignement. So the owner came down and told me the history, he had, had it since he bought it new in 89. Told me it had a new top and bottom end about 15 hours ago.
So I said what the hell, I need a new ride for the weekend. Went out to the Beach, rode out to Comp Hill and heard the dreaded noise comming from the Tranny, took it into a local shop, where I know the mechanic, he looked at it. Basically it looks like the Damn thing did not have any Tranny Oil in it.
I called the guyI bought it from and he swears he it was full and fresh when he dropped it off at the Consignment. And also says he went over all the Fluid level with the guy at the consignment Store, the guy at the store does not remember.
So to make a long story short, I am out a hell of a lot of cash to get a new Tranny put in.
Is this just my bad for not having it checked out, or is there someone else to get some Blame here. Anyone ever work with a Consignement place?
Well anyway enough with my venting.

No that was your job to check it. When I bought my new truck the first I did was take it to get an oil change and have all the fluids checked. Even if I don't ride my quad for a month or two I check all the fluids before I ride. Also didn't you notice that the bike was running way hot. Sorry for your luck, maybe it won't cost to much. Did you at least get a good deal on it.

Figured as much. I know better than that, but the guy told me he had just replaced all the fluids and went over the whole bike with the owener of the consignment store. So I just went with it, DAMN.
I did not notice it get hot but then I only rode it for less than an hour. The mechanic told me it was bone dry, on tranny fluid.
Live and lear. Since I can't do ther repairs myself, I am figuring on about 1000 or so. And no the price was not that great of a deal.
