if I start a drag in first when I try to shift into second sometimes I hit nuetral. Maybe I should put my 13 tooth stocker on and start in second.

How is your top end power. If it is lagging then you might want to put on the 13 or maybe change the rear one or two teeth up. You need to keep the clutch in until you get it into 2nd. You are probably letting the clutch out a hair to soon and it grabs N. But for drag racing if you get your gearing so you can start in 2nd but not loose all your top end speed will help you. JMO

I have an '04 Blaster. When I first started riding it, I always missed 2nd gear. Once you get used to it, you'll be able to shift 1st to 2nd gear no problem. I think it might have to do with the bike breaking in too.
That is probably true though about not holding the clutch long enough. I'd only miss 2nd gear when I was trying to race, not just normal riding.
